Qobuz download query

Posted by: maccaa on 09 December 2014

As, recently stated Quobuz seem to have broken their "downloader" so I have resorted to downloading the TAR folder option, however no matter how I set the Format (I prefer FLAC) the resultant download is m4a.

Can I just convert this with DBpoweramp to FLAC without loss of quality?

Thanks

Hi macaa,

I'm afraid that I can't answer your question. However, I downloaded 5 albums successfully 2 days ago (Sunday) using the Qobuz downloader. It was working perfectly and allowed me to select my preferred download option (Hi-res FLAC).

When did your problems with the Qobuz downloader begin?

Hi Hmack,

Intriguing, my problems started on Sunday, or rather thats the first time I have downloaded in some weeks.

It's as though the website (my Qobuz account ) has lost connection to the downloader, the downloader  used to be populated with all my downloads but now nothing and an error when I click on "download with Beta desktop"

Perhaps you have an older version of the Desktop. Delete it and download the current version.

I've actually been having problems listening to sample tracks on Qobuz recently. I can no longer listen using Internet Explorer. I have to use the Qobuz player on Firefox which is annoying.

The support guy at Qobus told me that they had recently (a few weeks ago) completed a major update of their site to allow streaming using FLAC, and this seems to have caused a number of issues, especially with Internet Explorer. Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox are the most popular browsers in France, so I guess they have prioritised these when they implemented the update. Apparently, the problem might be resolved when Internet Explorer 12 is released.

My downloader is still populated with all of my many download details, so I don't know why you are having problems. The support guys at Qobuz are usually very quick to respond and resolve any issues so I'd recommend dropping them an email.

I may well be downloading another album or 2 over the next couple of days (there is a discount offer on a 24 bit version of Supertramp's "Crime of the Century", so I will probably download that. I will let you know if I have any problems.

Good luck!

Thanks Hmack, and Steve J,

Steve j, I have tried the new downloader and actually wonder if that "broke" it.

Hmack, I have taken your advice and contacted their help desk, I am sure its something simple and maybe safari based.

I will report back

I have found that if I download everything as a ZIP it is always WMA - to get AIFF I have to download individual tracks

Ahhh, ok I think I've sorted it, I used to use "downloader qobuzz.app" which was in my apps folder.

It now appears that this has been changed to Qobuz desktop!

Is there a dunce's corner I can go and stand in (is that PC these days?)
