Unitiqute - No rooms found, Grrrrrrrr
Posted by: Jamieroqui on 11 December 2014
I have been having a lot of trouble lately with the App not finding the Qute "No rooms found" it comes and goes a lot. If I leave the Qute for few days, it will drop off my WLAN (BT Homehub 5) and I have to reconnect it. The App (on iphone 5s) still loses the Qute even though music is streaming from my NAS and successfully using the remote and phone is connected to WLAN. I have had many problems of this nature ever since updating to the MUSO app from N-Stream. Admittedly this may be pure coincidence. Any ideas folks?

New firmware for the Qute may solve this for you. I'm not exactly sure when it might be released however.
The issue of the Qute losing network connection after inactivity has been discussed on other threads and the suggestion of switching from UPnP to the analog input (I.e. CD on the remote) after a listening session seems to be the recommended workaround. Switching back to UPnP (PC) should then reestablish the network connection/restore the streaming history.
I'm using a BT HH3 and my iPad 2/app loses connection particularly when there is any other significant network traffic e.g. Downloading music etc. Could your problem be caused by something similar.
Through current circumstances I have toconnect the NDX to my HH5 wirelessly. I am also being subjected to a veritable storm of disconnects that usually resulting my having to reboot the NDX.
The cause? The BT routers are manage by an Alcatel Lucent site called Motive.com which logs on to them and checks the firmware status. In doing so it makes a value change and disassociates all the wifi clients. Most of these recover seamlessly, but the NDX usually requires a bott up the backside.
Ive had a rant at BT, but their Help Desks (voice and chat) are unaware of this activity and can offer nothing but their sincere apologies. I'm off tomorrow to get an Asus router to replace the HH5, I've had enough.
have a look in the Event Log (under Troubleshooting) and filter by Category TR069. That catches all the accesses by the site pbthdm.bt.motion.com, which is the blighter causing my pain. Unfortunately there's no way to block it short of taking a virtual hammer to the HH's firmware.

That's really interesting, I do have a BT router. I have an SU on a wired network and it frequently but not always gives me a NO NETWORK screen when I switch from phono to iradio. Pressing List usually restores it but sometimes it takes up to 3 attempts. Nothing else on the network ever does this. I started a thread on this some time ago and evidently many others have the same issue.
I'm not sure it's an actual fault with the SU but the network firmware seems pretty weak. When I check factory settings while NO NETWORK is showing it sometimes shows it as connected and with an ip address and sometimes no connection with no ip address. It's this lack of consistency of messages within the SU that makes me think the actual SU network connection firmware is poor - (I am running the very latest version).

Just checked the Event Log for my HH3 and it's recording access "CWMP:session start now, server:https://pbthdm.bt.mo, Event code:, 4 VALUE CHANGE" every 5 minutes!
Would be interested to know whether you have any success with your new router.
I suspect your internet connection is best handled by the router provided (and configured) by your ISP. Rather than replacing it, what I've done is keep it, but disable it's wifi, and connect a decent router to it by ethernet for my LAN, and run everything, both wired and wifi, from there. I use an Airport Extreme for this, as I have Apple hardware throughout, and it works well for me. I'd guess PC users might be better off with a non-Apple equivalent.

Get used to it; it comes with the territory There are workarounds as have been mentioned and maybe a future firmware update will correct it, but who knows?
I've had the Qute for a couple of months and it frequently exhibits the same problem you face. When I had a NDX it had different issues, but was equally as frustrating.
Neither are 100% reliable. It makes me wonder how the MUSO will fair in the aggressively competitive retail (i.e. non-audiophile) market as 'consumers' won't be as tolerant, no matter how good it may sound.
My app fails now and again but it's not that bad. Maybe it'll be sorted next update.
Re: Home Hub 5 woes
Contacted BT customer Service (NOT the Help Desk crew) and they said they'd look into the disruption caused by the process logging on and disrupting the Wi-Fi.
in the meantime I got fed up with the drops in wireless connectivity and bought an Asus RT-AC68U (using my old BT VDSL modem).
That was Sunday, and since then I've enjoyed seamless Wi-Fi to the NDX, and I've found that the App doesn't hang anywhere near as much. Signal strength to the farther reaches of the house is also much improved, and I can prioritise the various devices attached to it. It's pricey, but I'm chuffed to bits.
in the meantime BT just called back to say they have no idea why that process is logging on to the Home Hub but would pursue it. Just don't hold your breath!
Intothevoid, have you contacted naim support?
Thanks for the replies guys. I won't hold my breath with BT! I am going to try connecting it through a power-line network adaptor and see if that works as a band-aid
Jamie - worth reading the Phil Harris sticky item at the top of the forum as well. May give you some ideas on resolving network issues.

Yes, do. It's a good start to diagnosing problems caused by a home network.

No, but can do, thanks Paul. FWIW Phil's thread didn't identify any network issues for me.
