Muso Settings / Setup

Posted by: Zipperheadbanjo on 12 December 2014

I'm curious what folks on here have to say about optimizing their Muso settings?

I have mine in the kitchen (still burning in… just got it yesterday). It's on a single Ikea shelf which is mounted to the wall (purchased with the intent to be a home for the Muso). I have an Airport Express next to it so I hardwire an ethernet cable to the unit.

The Muso has very little clearance from the wall… this won't change… it's a limitation of the kitchen space. I probably have it about 5 cm from the back wall. I have used the app to indicate that the unit is less than 25 cm away from the back wall. At present I think I prefer the sound with loudness on, but I haven't really turned the unit up past 3 or 4 as yet, so I may find it better with the  loudness off when played at higher volume.

I am very pleased with the unit… aesthetically, functionally, and in the tactile sense it's fantastic. Sonically it's good… but breaking in so will hold off judgement on sound quality for at least a few days. Right out of the box though it is better than my B/W Zeppelin Mini by a long shot (as one would expect given the cost and size differential. Will post a picture of the setup to this thread later this weekend.

Any tips / tricks appreciated!

Loudness off here. It is a bit bass heavy anyway, although it is better balanced this week.

It may benefit from being well clear of rear wall, on rather solid heavy furniture and a little high up. I did find it a little bass heavy too. Maybe in future fware patch room/tone trimming options or its dsp could be modified. After continuous use for one week it sounded better somehow.

If the loudness function is enabled, it automatically reduces as the volume is increased.

With that in mind, there doesn't seem much point in having it.

+1 for too much bass.
