@JSH,

The support team can't match your forum name with any ongoing support case. If you still have unresolved issues that you want us to look at could you mail support@naimaudio.com and include your forum name so we can tie it all together. The factory will be closing tomorrow at the end of the day and opening again on 2nd Jan so during that period emails might take a little longer to be replied to.

Cheers

Tom

After this upgrade, the connection becomes faulty again. There were instances that the iPad app couldn't find the NDS, which have never happened to me throughout 4.0 to 4.2; and the app now takes forever to reconnect to the NDS after a short iPad nap. I need to rescan in the minimserver to make the Synology server "re-appears" again.

Bottom bar still disappears sometimes on my iPhone 6

I note that the seek-to-time bug still isn't fixed -- should remain on the dev's list of needs please.

(Fast-forwarding using the seek-to-time slider results in the track ending sooner than it should; the timer gets ahead of the music and the app thinks the track is over because of the timer, but it's not.  Extensively discussed in the beta forum, thanks!)

Great upgrade to the iPad Naim App - not!  And just in time for Christmas.  It now loads an album, starts to play the first track and then forgets it has loaded anything at all, doesn't even realise a track is actually playing, then stops.  Which is a great shame as it worked just fine before the upgrade.  Now stuck with this over the holidays.  Hardware works, network works, but not the App... so i'll just have to dig out my CDs instead.  Must be cross to post on Christmas Day!

Whoa there, this app works !!     You are probably not pressing the right bits

To play an album touch the first track & it loads all

or

Touch the 3 dots at the top right & it loads all now or next or last

If that does not work, delete the app & reload, then go thru settings etc

It works, believe me

Dear All, I never use the playlist before and I have just saved the first yesterday but this morning I get such unpleasant message. Single album works fine... Any help?

Mike-B, point is, it did work (very well) the day before I upgraded it - all the dots, my preset search folders setup on the Synology, everything.  After the upgrade it will find and load all the tracks of an album, start to play the first track, but even as that track is playing and i am listening to it, the App will state nothing is playing, show no timings and will not continue to play any subsequent tracks, find artwork/info etc.  I can select an album and play another solitary track, but the App then continues to deny anything is playing.  I will check that it is not my own chrimbo madness, but things just don't seem to be the same after pressing 'upgrade'.

I will take your sage advise, delete the App and reload.

That is weird TommayCat,   I tried a few tricks including messing with the Synology but cant get it to misbehave.

I have been working on the beta app's with Naim & still had the latest beta loaded - its the same as the released version you have.  Anyhow I've now loaded the released version & its still OK.

Hi Mike-B.  Thanks for experimenting on my behalf.  I erased and downloaded the App - same result.  I switched the ND5 off and on and... 'oh, you want me to play ALL the tracks? ok, no problem'.

Once upon a time you slapped a slab of vinyl on a turntable and enjoyed the music.  Now, you defrost the fridge and your internet radio goes down.  All these updates and interdependencies are a bit scary sometimes, but if in doubt 'switch it off and on' still seems to apply.

The quiet and reliable Synology (213j) on the other hand does exactly what it says on the tin, as do my BT ethernet extenders, although i would be interested to hear how others think this might (or might not) effect the listening experience?

Hope you've had a relaxing Christmas and all the best for 2015.

Surfer,

I had the same issue when upgrading from the old n-stream app to the new one in October. Several of my playlists miraculously filled themselves up to 500 songs without reason. Quite some correspondence with Tom and Phil, but we were not able to resolve the issue.

In addition, after the upgrade none of my playlists could be played anymore... I ended up spending hours and hours rebuilding my playlists, by making pictures with one iPad of the playlist displayed on my other iPad... A nightmare.

With the latest 4.3 version I have no issue though. It could have to do with the indexing functionality of your NAS. Hope you get your playlists working again.

Hi Tom Johnson,

I experience a bug in the latest Naim app 4.3 when using playlists. After a playlist is created, sometimes I do some retagging (in JRiver software), like adding the release year in the album title or so. In the playlist you get an error message: a red cross on the right side. So far so good, this was always the case.

The bug is: If I want to REMOVE that song from the playlist by pressing the red cross, a windows pops up and says 'Do you want to remove' with the option 'Only this track or 'all missing tracks' (or similar wording, I use the Dutch language version). Whichever of the two options I press, nothing happens.

In the previous versions I simply deleted those 'red-crossed'songs, but App 4.3 does not react when I tap on the window. I checked this on two iPads.

Can you check please and tell me how to remove 'red crossed' songs from the playlists?

Anybody else with this experience?

I reported that Bubble problem several months ago, I sent multiple logs, and I got no response. The supposed "fix" that finally arrived still does not work for me, tracks are missed or repeated, or rendering stops. I appreciate it is difficult for Bubble's developer to fix problems related to a device he doesn't have access to, but in contrast the new naim app has made quick progress and has pretty much made me give up on Bubble.

Order is restored, however, we have now lost the volume control, haven't we?

Tommay Cat

I've started having what sounds like the same issue as you with the App controlling my mu-so.

It was flaky before Christmas but is unusable today. How did you manage to restore order?

Olly

Olly,

I deleted and reloaded the App onto my iPad, but not sure if that was necessary, however this takes little time so perhaps worth it.  The situation remained, so i switched off my ND5 and powered it back up again.  I did not have to reset anything else or make any other adjustments to the network.  Once the App re-established contact with the ND5 it seems to work as it should, i.e. it finds and load albums and plays all the selected tracks in sequence.  I stream uncompressed FLAC or WAV  from a Synology 213j using BT ethernet network extenders if that it relevant to your situation?  I have not observed any obvious changes to the App from before the upgrade, other than the rather useful volume control seems to have gone in the new version?

I still find the App a bit quirky, but have not had time to really explore its functionality.  It would be useful to be able to add an album to the end of the queue rather than play next (but perhaps you can?).

Hope that solves your mu-so problem and you have a tuneful New Year!

Is there a setting somewhere to enable the volume control?

Yes, you can touch the three dots . . . next to the name of a selected album and chose "queue next."

Gert, the volume control shows up in the screen showing the specific track playing . . . if you're connected to a Uniti player.  If you're using an ND- player you must enable system automation on your player.

Thanks, Bart,

I do not miss the volume control with my uniti1. But TommayCat did ask for it...
Posted on: 28 December 2014 by sjbabbey

Also, you should see sliders for the max volume level and balance in Settings\Audio settings for the Uniti.

Actually, Bart, you choose 'queue last', which is doubtless what you meant. The three dots at the top affect the whole album while those by each track deal with said track.

Tommaycat

Thanks, I went through that routine on Christmas eve when I was having problems (dropouts when trying to use Spotify for a Christmas playlist) which I attributed to my router.  Now things are even worse.

The only problem I have with doing it all over again is that it shouldn't be necessary and I'm not sure whether/how long it will be effective for.

I find with my iphone that there are many aberrations in what the app chooses to display - in the artist/album view especially - which don't occur on the ipad.  So there's no doubt in my mind the app isn't behaving as it should and if it's doing it in ways I can see, I very much doubt all the stuff that isn't visible is perfect.

My mu-so hasn't enhanced my Christmas in the way that I had hoped it would and I shall be on the phone to Naim in the morning.

The network detection and room recovery almost break down entirely after upgrading my NDS to firmware version 4.1 and Naim app to thr latest version 4.3. I need to spend time on the front panel EVERY TIME when i want to play network music from the NDS. The unit simply fails to find the wired Ethernet network, leading to the failure by the iOS app to find the room.
Posted on: 28 December 2014 by Mike-B

Do you have a multiroom system or just one NDS in one room ??

If yes,  have you turned multiroom OFF ??

= tools > settings > input settings > multiroom

Ciao Mike, really is it needed? I have also problem with my Uniti2 and onetime I turn off multi room it is not founded anymore. I'm asking because this would then help me too! Grazie, buon 2015
