Airport Express, no connection to Naim

Posted by: Stover on 19 December 2014

I updated NDS and Qute to the Spotify version today. Nothing changed in the network. Everything else works as before except from that I cannot connect to Spotify. I know how to do this from my Mu-so.

Streamers says "Ready, connect Spotify app" but cannot find the streamers in the Spotify window.

My ethernet is 100 Mbit, speed wireless measured to 1-20 Mbit so I suspected the speed to be the problem. I then turned off my wireless network (Inteno) and installed an Airport express as my wireless network, now measured to 76Mbit speed.

With the AE as a network, I cannot find Serve, NDS or Qute at all. All three are ethernet cabled. In this wireless mode I can play iRadio from streamers. Is there a setup issue?

Thanks for help in advance.

If you kill the Spotify app (swipe it off the screen) and restart it, everything should be ok.

Thanks, but I does not help. Cannot find streamers in the Spotify window using the Inteno network.
With the AE network I cannot find rooms or streamers/ serve at all, only play from the Naim remote

Have you read the new Phil Harris sticky post? worth doing - sounds like you have discovery issues.

Thanks, yes I have read input from Phil Harris and also downloaded the recommended app. Interesting.
I have found that cabled ethernet and wireless net did not speak with eachother. Naim boxes was connected by cable into the Inteno modem. Just by moving this connection to AE (in and out) it was solved. I can even play Spotify now.
Last issue, I cannot find volum buttons in stream, when playing upnp, have to use Naim remote. At least with my iPhone

When UPnP is playing, touch the area at the bottom of the iPhone display that shows the name of the track that is playing.  That will open up the display to one which has the volume slider.

Exactly, that is how I'm used to, but + and - are gone. I will check when iPads available again.

Can I ask if the ability to adjust volume is something new with the 4.1 update as I've not seen it in the current or previous versions of the iOS app?

Its always been in the app, incl the old nStream

The instructions are in your NDX manual, you will need a 3.5mm to 3.5mm jack cable from NDX to SN - nothing special $3 from www stores is OK.  Then go to your NDX front screen & activate System Automation & then into the app settings & tick (check) Show Volume

Thank you Mike.

I was running blind (obviously) based on being handed a remote when the dealer demonstrated the kit and announcing the only thing the app doesn't do is alter the volume! Maybe I drew the YTS!
