Uniti 1 and old firmware

I'm a bit confused when it comes to the Uniti firmware... if I buy one of the first Uniti that was manufactured second hand ( the one whit the BC SW 10198 I think?)

What is the different from Uniti,s whit newer firmware? Can I still use it whit the the today iPad/iPhone app for example?

Yes maybe? Yosemite tried to stop the software installation off the software, "not from app store..,," I approved the installation anyway of course, but I never turned off the built in firewall, can be worth trying.
