Prompted by several others playing this over recent days. When I start playing Looking For Someone I always seem to keep nudging up the volume. By the time I've got to White Mountains the volume level seems about right. And what a great finale with The Knife? The climax always gives me goosebumps. One of those albums that just seems to draw you further and further in.
I know exactly what you mean. It will probably be Genesis for me later too . But for now
Kate Bush - The Kick Inside

Iommi ~ Fused (2005)
Legendary Black Sabbath founder member and lead guitarist Tony Iommi together with rock vocalist Glen Hughes make this a really enjoyable album, well worth playing if you have never heard it before.
Hi Steve
Good choice and great album. I have been a Sabbath fan since I was at school and always loved Tony's sound.
Russell
Hi Russell
Not seen you here much of late, hope all is ok with you. I agree about the Iommi sound I have always loved the way he plays. I haven't heard his first solo album "Iommi" I must see if its available on Spotify.
Steve
Thanks Steve, things have been very hectic for the last couple of months. They seem to be settling down now though (famous last words?).

Fancied some more classic Genesis after Trespass and have gone for this. Nursery Cryme has a particular place in my heart as I saw it performed live. At that time their star hadn't full risen as they were a support act for Van Der Graaf Generator but it was clear to me at the time that Genesis were in a different and much higher league.
I don't suspose anyone is keeping count but would love to see a list of the top 100 albums posted here.

A wild stab in the dark:

That would be a great idea for a new app. Naim Forum Records Chart. You could get hated for decades.

Songs from this album were played with awesome power and clarity last night by TNP. My most immersive gig so far this year. New songs were also played, signposting another fab album to be released.
Promised myself a play of this when I saw BigH play it earlier this week. Only recently discovered this album. The reproduction is excellent. The South American style is dance-inducing.
Beethoven wrote one sonata for horn and keyboard. It isn't his most memorable work, but gives both instruments plenty to do, and when performed on natural horn and fortepiano, lets the instruments shine. The best thing here, however, is the sonata by a certain Nikolaus von Krufft, a contemporary of Beethoven's.
The disc is rounded out by a largo from Haydn and the horn sonata by Maximillian Joseph Leidesdorf and Camilla Bellonci - who we all know from history class of course, but whose names together apparently only appeared on this score.
Great performances and sound make for a very appealing disc.
Cheers,
EJ

The last of the great piano titans of Soviet era - Grigory Sokolov. I love the quote in the program notes from Sokolov, "I play only what I want to play." Fortunately, I am very lucky to love the same music that he chooses to play.

Still waiting for my copy.
How are the vinyl?
I am hoping them to sound better than their reissues.

Hi Kuma,
No, I don't think this is better than their reissues. Close miked and digital so not the greatest, not the worst. I'd give it a 7/10. For myself though, worth it just for the Chopin Preludes which is essential music in my world. I like his interpretations.

Oh bummer.
They should sound better than a CD release or his Näive live recording back in the 90s, tho?
I am curious to see if he changed or progressed from 25 years ago.
Haitink/LSO Beethoven Triple Concerto:
Violin : Gordan Nikolic
Piano : Lars Vogt
Cello: Timonthy Hugh
This has a Mozart like polish and bouncy rhythmic pulse. Soloists are easy to follow and well balanced. A lower energy than Russian super star trio but not so antagonistic. Not the most exciting set but love the way Haitink turns the corner and his poised but expressive orchestra shading. This is a very *together* set.
On Vinyl ,one of my few Island pinks
