Oleg Sirenko ~ Atmospherics No Gravity (2013)

Oleg Sirenko died last year. He was part of a set of musicians and music lovers who formed the Tunguska Electronic Music Society (TEMS) in Russia. The society called itself Tunguska to bring world attention to the consequences of a catastrophic event such as a near earth impact as in Tunguska when a small (60metre) asteroid or meteorite fell to earth in Siberia in 1908 Flattening 2,000 km2 (770 sq mi) of forest, devastating the entire area. TEMS downloads are free/name your price at band camp or their own site here:

Thanks Steve. I gave it a go and it's pretty good. Must listen to it again and maybe some more of his stuff.

John Cougar. Eponymous third album. On Riva label vinyl from 1979. As I recall, this was considered by the US market at the time to be Cougar's debut LP.

Trying to acclimated to more recent 20th century classical tunes.

Gyögy Ligeti's work is probably more accessible than others.

Atmospheres is still very powerful sending shiver to my back bone.

Now I remember Lontano from 'Shining'!

Pink Floyd. A Momentary Lapse Of Reason. Original vinyl from 1987. The few direct metal mastered pressings I have from this time period tend to sound a bit harsh, but this one is rather thick sounding, still with very good depth and width. The original CD sounds even muddier. Great music though.

A bizarre and eclectic collection of stuff from Trunk Records: everything from Terry-Thomas and Bill Evans through to Marni Nixon, ambient ecordings and Rolf Harris doing a "Tie Me Kangaroo Down Cha Cha".

Maybe I'll check some of their other albums.

Listening on Spotify Premium to a (2001 ?) remaster

Thanks Russell, this is an interesting album. It's just my first listen but I have to agree with you it is difficult to describe. It reminds me of one or two things but I can't put my finger on it...yet!

Ace compilation of library music and telly tunes, including Johnny Hawksworth's immortal "Up To Date" (better known as the theme from Man About The House):

Heartplay - with Antonio Forcione and Charley Haden. I bought this just before my Unitiserve gave in. Now that it's back I can finally listen to this beautiful beautiful music. They play in such a finely tuned way. It's hard to describe in words but the musical expression seems to be so together. This music really benefits on high volume!
