Nah! No way Kevin. There are some great tracks but it's not as coherent as the first four albums.

Its very size, diversity (what some might call a "lack of coherence") and sprawl are what makes it great. For the same reason, The White Album is the Beatles' best record. The art form is the album, and thus we have to take the work as a whole, and not as the sum of its individual tracks - and therefore I always listen to PG (and The White Album - including "Revolution 9") from beginning to end.

Some Mary Black.  Speaking With The Angel isn't one of my regular plays of her albums but it's still good and very well reproduced.  Cut By Wire is a very nice song.  The CD version also comes with a bonus track of Mary's rendition of Fields of Gold which is very powerful in a non-rock way, if you know what I mean

Kristian Bezuidenhout in volume 1 of his Mozart solo keyboard series (now at vol. 7). This music, almost too gentle and simple on a modern grand, really opens up when played on a fortepiano. Bezuidenhout is too creative an artist to sign up for perfect consistency (his ideas don't always work, for me) but on the whole he's been stellar throughout this series, helped by his range of instruments.

Cheers,

EJ

Excellent electronic pop, and what a strong debut album!  Hard to not compare Hannah Reid with Florence Welch - both have such beautiful, powerful voices. Wish I had discovered this sooner!

Heinz Holliger oboe
Maurice Bourgue oboe
Thomas Zehetmair violin
Klaus Thunemann bassoon
Klaus Stoll double-bass
Jonathan Rubin lute
Christiane Jaccottet harpsichord

The trio sonatas of Czech composer Jan Dismaz Zelenka (1679-1745) consist of a unique instrument combination of two oboes, bassoon and bass continuo with a violin replacing the oboe in the third sonata. he colorful pieces are influenced by the works of Bach and folk music of Zalenka's homeland.
