Steven Wilson - Hand.Cannot.Erase

Hmmm. So far, so alright. On first listen it hasn't grabbed me as much as Grace or Raven did, but it's probably a grower.

Typical Lang Lang, I still like his 'showman' style, sorry guys.....

Donkey's years ago I used to have The Cry Of Love on vinyl and when I spotted a CD version yesterday I thought I'd reacquaint myself with the album. I was expecting to be disappointed with the reproduction, partly because I don't remember my vinyl being that good, but in practice this CD's reproduction's ok.  And the songs Drifting, Ezy Rider, Angel and In From The Storm are every bit as good as I remember.

As recommended by Rob. Heavy traces of early Grace Slick and Jefferson Airplane IMO.

Each solo album has taken a while to gel for me Gary. I'm not panicking. Going to Cambridge next week, then the Troxy with Adrian. Are you seeing the boy? I wonder if Seagull will make a flying visit?

Grieg's sonata for cello and piano is one of Grieg's best works and one of the genre's greatest examples. It allows for a wide range of interpretations. Ishizaka and Wosner are by turns energised and dreamy, which sounds a lot better than it reads on paper.

Cheers,

EJ

I was too slow getting tickets...and if I were to try and meet up with the splendid Seagull I'd probably go to the wrong town, let alone the wrong pub!

As for the album, I'm sure you're right, but Grace and Raven did so much to restore my faith in Mr. W that I'm anxious

I mentioned the SD Hammersmith gathering to Ewen the other day . Shame you won't be about, perhaps see you at another 'These New Puritans' gig. I saw them at the Oslo, Hackney recently, playing tunes from 'Hidden & 'F-O-R'. Although the Barbican was magical, the smaller (350 cap) venue delivered such beauty & brutal power, it left me with even more admiration for the band than I had before. Live music has never been so good in my humble...

Wouldn't argue with you there. When you think back to the shonky PAs bands played through...I think the sound and performances are much better these days. Just wish I had the get and go of you young lads and went to more
