Caribou
"Our Love" (2014) mp3
LP.
NOT the Westside Story Version.
I'm listening FLAC lossless via Qobuz.
G
I just did a search on Qobuz and found a series of albums titled "Times Square Time with". Reasonably priced but I'd be interested to know the history of the recordings; original release, personnel, recording date, etc. The same series is also available to stream on Spotify. Seems to cover a wide range of music genres.
Dave
It's actually 'Times Square Time with The Oscar Peterson Trio' - 8 tracks starting with 'Dahoud'.
I'm assuming Herb Ellis (who plays wonderfully) & Ed Thigpen so 1950's?
G
OK there are 2 Oscar Peterson albums in this series; "Oscar Peterson Trio" and "Oscar Peterson" which is the "West Side Story" album. But this is getting too hard. Think I'll stick with:
Also available on single CDs or downloads.

Sounds good for a digital remaster -
was kind of surprised it was after first seeing how old the cover looks.

I love XTC, but rarely seem to play them these days. This is one of my favourites, and has reminded me of what I've been missing.
Apple Venus vol. 1 is a Brilliant album HH! Lyrically and musically sophisticated - just pips 'Skylarking' as my favourite XTC.

Have you got this 'Homespun' version? I prefer it to the Apple Venus Vol 1 original. And I see there is a new version of Skylarking with reversed polarity or something, which is supposed to be a lot better than the original, so I'll need to investigate.

Yes - I have the 'Homespun' version too.
Re. 'Skylarking' polarity - imho it's not mastered very nicely compared to the first press cd.
G
I have never, for some reason, heard this acclaimed cult album. My mate has just lent me his CD copy, so I'm going to give it a spin right now...
My evenings listening planned out
And finally to finish of the evening
The History Of Apple Pie

Thanks for that, Dave
I wouldn't know that being a young chick
Although i did buy this a few years ago...
It's on the Doxy label ...which means digital again
and i can confirm it sounds more digital than my bluebird 2 lp set.
Although i do prefer the alternate versions - the bluebird set has both
Debs
Ozric Tentacles -Spice Doubt Streaming - on c.d.
live album with Cat DNA on it, this may be the cause of the high energy content.
Not the most lively lacking dynamics and vitality. It could have been an interesting duo but I don’t feel any spark or electricity in this set. ( or light's on but nobody's home )
Oistrakh was much better with Klemperer a few years prior.
Splinters: Mariann Marczi (piano)
20th Century Hungarian Works for Piano by:
György Ligeti
György Kurtág
Béla Bartók
Zoltán Kodály
László Lajtha
Zoltan Jeney
Gyula Csapó
I don't often go deep into the atonal 20th century territory but decided to follow EJ's lead today.
Robert Schumann: Danny Driver (Klavier)
Novelletten, Op. 21
Nachtstücke op. 23
Romanze in f-sharp major, op. 28 Nr. 2
Back to a language that I understand and speak.
Steven Osborne (piano)
Nikolai Medtner:
Skazki, Op. 20
Sonata in B-flat minor "Sonata Romantica" Op. 53, No. 1
Sergei Rachmaninov:
Variations on a theme of Corelli, Op. 42
Piano Sonata No. 2 in B-flat minor, Op. 36 (performing edition by Steven Osborne)
Lately, I just cannot seem to get enough of Medtner or Rachmaninov. Large scale works here with lots of excellent sounding bass
Alice In Chains - The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here (2013)
Nerina Pallot, Fires, flac streamed via Hugo, I'd forgotten how very good this album is. Very enjoyable
On vinyl, 3 LP set.
