Thought I would give Alison Krauss a bit of a go (for the first time!). I have to say that early impressions are good.

She's only talented lady with a voice that is addictive..

Having survived Royal Blood I thought I'd ease down with some gentle Dire Straits.  This is lovely Japanese import as recommended by ewemon.

I have this set on vinyl (my most expensive purchase) and it's really great.

Why was it so expensive BigH ?

3 x LP heavy weight MFSL limited edition.

I took a punt on a second hand copy at £50 and it was fine. They can fetch over £100 these days.

The best voice I have ever heard.

Anna Fedorova (piano):

Frédéric Chopin: Klaviersonate Nr. 3
Franz Liszt: Petrarca-Sonett Nr. 104
Johannes Brahms: 6 Klavierstücke op. 118

Judy Holliday's only album with Gerry Mulligan. She's really good! The masters were on 3 tracks and mixed by Mulligan and mastered by Bob Ludwig at Masterdisk. The record sounds natural and low noise.

I loved her in 'Born Yesterday' as a ditzy secretary but her real IQ was said to be 172.

Sadly she passed at the age of 43 from breast cancer.

I love Szell's Mozart Sonatas.

His piano is surprisingly well controlled and expressive showing subtle shifts in dynamics and phrasing. He does not come off as his usual ball busting task master in these wonderful but fun sonatas.

The Gould Legacy Box Set from the 80s.

They digitised analogue masters and put them back on the vinyl.

Thy are not bad sounding digital remasters until I compared it to the original all analogue releases.

Prompted by Haim's earlier listing. The perfect start to a lazy Saturday.

David has a way of hitting the notes which really speak to me, a very delicate album...

One of their very early albums remastered in '95.
