Revisiting Hough's performance of the Liszt b-minor. I can see how many think he's one of the world's best pianists - but too smooth and controlled for me. In this sense, he one-ups stablemate Hamelin. The shorter works on this disc fare much better.

Cheers,

Steven WIlson - Hand Cannot Erase. I've heard this through a few times now and I love it, especially 'Routine'. Not really listened to the BD yet but the downloaded FLAC (only 44.1KHz unfortunately) sound excellent.

Followed by ...

Pink Floyd - Animals

Pink Floyd - Animals, ripped to FLAC and ...

Pink Floyd - The Endless River

Thanks for the heads up, I like their music too. Have you heard anything from it yet?

Understand, on a different tack did you mention a while back that Harry Manx might be doing some UK gigs this year. If so I would be interested in anything he might do up here north of Hadrian's.

Puccini's second opera isn't as concise or even keeled as the string of operas that started with Manon Lescaut and especially La Boheme, but it is already full of Puccini's inimitable sound and tunes. Essential listening for anyone who loves Italian Verismo and/or Puccini, and this is a great recording with an aging but still splendidly singing Domingo. Veronesi's conducting isn't singled out often, but I couldn't think of a better advocate for this work.

Great album Jeff and it's a long time since I have played it. Will need to dig it out at some point.
