Same symphony than the other one, but now much more rounded tone. Interesting to see what is dependent from the high res aspect and what is due to the different orchestra / recording...

U2
"The Joshua Tree" (1987) SP
Great album Jeff and it's a long time since I have played it. Will need to dig it out at some point.
Hi Ewen,
I was prompted to play this by the thread started here in the Music Room. Back in the day when I imagined myself to be a runner, this was a great album on the headset when the endorphins were kickin' in. I like U2, oddly it is the drummer and bass player who always made me like them. Great rhythm section in my mind.
be well

Vinyl - Great southern blues rock from 1971
On vinyl.

My first experience with Furtwangler's work was this Beethoven Symphony 1 with Vienna Phil. It sounds like a precursor to big-scale grand Karajan sound except it's gutsy, real and powerful. Wonderful tonal shading and development throughout without sacrificing emotional communications. It’s got scale, excitement and the most importantly, the right attitude for the Beethoven program, in my mind, and feels certainly very Bavarian.
Abbey Road reissue engineer worked magic on this '52 mono recording which sounds just wonderful.
During workout, a lot of rhythm

Solid non exciting execution of the sonatas..., but enjoyable...

A romantically-inclined but irresistible performance of Mozart's last two violin sonatas.

Fond memories. I've not listened to this for some time
Not my favourite Fabs LP, but this version, from the mono vinyl box, sounds very good:
Another peach from the mono vinyl box. The first side in particular is unbelievable - all the songs were potential number ones!

K, I take it you have got your TT back, hope it's sounding mighty fine..

Yes thanks G - at last! New Klyde and T-Kable, plus a service. Sounds great - I really missed it.
Hope all is well with you...

The magnificent Dusty, and a great collection, highly recommended :-

That does look like an interesting collection thanks and all in mono from what I can see.
Ah Dusty - my favourite 60's girl singer, what a voice
For me she became a far better singer when she moved to Atlantic, although a fine "pop" singer, the move to Atlantic & Memphis "soul" bought her to another level.
My all time fav album is "Dusty in Memphis" - its crammed with real classics ........ 'Just A Little Lovin', 'Son Of A Preacher Man' & then just listen & melt into that voice & her emotions she has in 'Breakfast In Bed' …..... hhmmm sweet memories
The 24/96 download is remastered & worth the change from CD (16/44)
On CD:-

Super album.
+1
Has he ever made a bad album?

Argh Kuma, more you are posting on Beethoven, more this intrigue me... But I need to save for the 272! ![]()

Even more magnificent is the Queen of Swamp Pop and Southern Storytelling, the great (but sadly elusive these days) Bobbie Gentry. This is one of her three masterpieces (the others being Fancy and The Delta Sweete) on UK first press vinyl.
