Started with this during my workout. In general I would say a good but not amazing album. it sounds a bit like all the songs are in the same scheme......

..then I switched to this, the old work of Opeth. I have to say while I like the musical line of Opeth under these series of albums a lot, the growling is still difficult to digest for me....

...I am now again relaxing after a shower and switched to something completely different. I like this a lot it's less flamboyant than the version of Jean-Efflam Bavouzet which I also like a lot. But the thoughtfull and delicate playing of Marc-Andre is also very enjoyable. I would recommend people who love this kind of music to compare these two versions and appreciate the differences...

This album is a bit more varied and dynamic than his most recent album. But I think his most recent album is a step better, still this is quite enjoyable..

HAWKWIND  - Space Bandits -

                      - Palace Springs -    both on Essential label c.d..

slamming their prog/heavy spacerock against the cosmic wall; Simon House on violin adds texture to this colourful sonic tapestry from the early '90's.

An album with quite a number a good sounding songs - recommended for those who don't know her yet

A highres download of Andrea Röschmann's new song recital. I'm a sucker for any album that includes Schubert's 'Gretchen am Spinnrade', surely up there with 'Erlkönig' as one the best - and sexiest - art songs ever written.

Röschmann no longer sounds like a young woman, but her voice is still in great shape. Best of all is her oldfashioned care for the vocal line and the meaning of the text. SQ-wise, Martineau is a bit too far back in the soundstage for this to qualify as a great recording.

Cheers,

EJ

One of my favourite recent acquisitions, which combines contemplative and more upbeat pieces very effectively.

On thin vinyl, proving vinyl doesn't have to be 180g to sound good!
