Glad you like it MDS, I'm sure you will find the two other CDs great. The SQ on all of these are excellent as is the various material. I also played disc 2 earlier on this evening

Yep. Thanks for the recommendation, Steve. Nice one!

Leroy Vinnegar Quartet

"Integrity - Live At Laimont"   (1995)    MP3

The City of Portland was fortunate to have Leroy reside here for the last thirteen years of his life.  He would play live in clubs three or four nights a week, often with no cover charge at the door.  This recording includes Mel Brown on drums (Mel was a long-time Motown drummer, mostly with the Supremes), Dan Faenhle on guitar, Leroy on bass and Gary Harris on sax. Leroy passed away at age 71 in 1999.

On vinyl? Excellent album. I love Martin Stone's guitar playing.

Hi Clive B,

How did the comparison go?

Vinyl won, by a very large margin, for me.

Yes, me too. Sad really. But at least the NDS is convenient and CDs are so cheap at the moment.

No, on cd, I got rid of my lps many years ago and had this on Blue Horizon. The cd still sounds good in my room on my system though.

Every time i listen to this i feel like rushing out to buy that Mercedes Benz.

A cool evening walk in the rain would be more affordable though...

Debs,

I should watch the film again. Can't recollect at all the MB. On the other hand, Jeanne Moreau's face is unforgettable.

Elton John: Madman Across the Water '71 release.

Musically still on the same extension as to Tumbleweed Connection.

Very good album. I have a decent Japanese pressing somewhere in the shelves.

Elton John: Caribou 1974 Release.

John is well on the way to become a power pop super star.

Musically tho, it is not very interesting.

Re Mercedes in Naim Nymphs post even with a dent in it you would need a very large amount of pocket money to buy it.

Over £1.5 for a half decent one. Makes S1 look cheap?

There is an Ostermeier (very accurate) replica with modern running gear at around 1/4 Million dollars.

I can't remember where and when I got this, or what pressing it is, but it sounds very nice. I'm playing it because the sun is shining here in South London:
