Two original 10" LPs, plus 12 bonus tracks on one CD, from the superb Masterworks box. Considering these were recorded 61 or 62 years ago, the sound quality is amazing.

Full sound - interesting version

She could play whatever she wants to - it just wouldn't matter.

Warner being sexist?  Nah - they are just presenting the facts in a visually pleasing, attractive artistic manner.

EMI though - that is a completely different message with overt subliminal messaging.  Apparently, she does play violin or that was the only prop available by coincidence for every cover photo shoot

Does it say anywhere on the box who mastered these?

A interesting point. OK I agree, the facts are very pleasing. Both of them.

I am confused with her wearing jeans under her nighty. Maybe I'm at the age where I don't understand such things.

It's funny how these things happen.  I am completely unaware of these things and often others see a unique and interesting relationship between several posts.  I honestly just randomly proceeded from one to the other due to easy access (all being in a pile from relatively new discs I bought) and because I was in the mood for the music.

Just to show you that I am a balanced guy and that my music collection is about the music and not the cover art per se you'll see that the next randomly selected album will likely be a nice mountain scene with trees (that you have to look very hard to see the nymph laying by the babbling brook).  Oops.

LOL  Sorry mate, you've been 'sussed out'

Playing the neighborhood composers.

Posted on: 21 March 2015 by Florestan

Franz Schubert:   (violin), Cedric Tiberghien (piano)

Complete works for  and piano

Now how creepy is that.  Even Hyperion can't find a nice mountain scene with trees without a nymph laying by the babbling brook.

This Beethoven #5 is of a chamber music-like intensity. Chailly's carefully shaped opening phrases forego on big drama and pave the way for Freire's entry as just one of the orchestra. Freire exudes charisma and an air of tranquillity, which adds some unusual depth to this music, possibly at the expense of the last ounce of excitement. Recorded quality is not great but good enough not to adversely impact my view that this is one of the few great recordings of Beethoven's fifth (and, therefore, also a view that most professional music critics don't have a clue).

Cheers,

EJ

Picked up on her signing on the latest album from Mark Knopfler.

This is a beautiful, calm album, wonderful. She reminds me a bit of Alison Krauss

5 Tracks off their up and coming album, well hopefully they will be unless their record company decide to remix them.
