First press vinyl. I can't believe this album is now 25 years old. brilliant use of samples. Not all hip-hop/rap is braggadocio you know....

You'll have occasional sparkles of distorion here and there.

No need of shcm stuff here for a great analogue rec on cd. Imho.

Another great album.

A great voice and orchestra in a really good recording!

More Old Skool hip-hop on original vinyl. Here's the debut album from the very best of the MC/DJ duos:

From that marvellous mono vinyl box set (although it's quite trebly - anyone else find this?)...

Following on from the Fabs, here's Yoko's brilliant Yoko Ono/Plastic Ono Band album, on 1992 Ryko CD.

Awesome playing from a stellar cast, including Lennon, Ringo, Voorman, Charlie Haden, Ornette Coleman and Ed Blackwell:

Big Big Train ~ English Electric:Full Power (23 September 2013)

First full fat listen having recently downloaded this double CD from Bandcamp,  featuring good and well reviewed modern British 'prog... just about to find out if that is the case.

Kevin,

I don't think this title is particularly a good recording to begin with.

That said, the Beatle's mono was less trebly than stereo versions on hand. In my dealer's system, the midrange was fuller and had more presense. Plus better frequency reach.

Certainly better than the later various US reissues.

Are you comparing it to the original UK mono pressing?

Hi Kuma

I haven't got an original unfortunately, just an 80s stereo and a 2009 stereo from the box set. But it does seem a bit more "shouty" and fatiguing than the others in the 2014 mono box...

When I first saw the image I thought the guy over Russell's left shoulder was Adam Duritz of Counting Crows and he had lost some weight.

Wasn't that keen on it when I heard it a couple of weeks back. What do you think of it?

Looks like Christine Mcvie and Chris Rea have also joined the band.

Robin Trower ~ Live (1975)

This live performance is 40 years old this year and sounds as fresh as a daisy here. RT on fantastic form, the 2011 remastering is just fine, super live album.
