'Lost in the dream' by War on Drugs . I bought this from Qobuz last week and can't stop playing it , think of a perfect American road trip soundtrack and this is it .
I found that Mahler's music really need someone who can lead and show a solid structure and direction otherwise they can quickly turn into a boring overwrought affair.
+1
The best sound quality of the evening in Jamal's collection, I do have better sounding albums (the more recent ones).
Haven't listened to this for a while and realised why.
It's not very good.
Then try again! I'm sure you'll get it eventually; I think it's closer to SD than much of the recent SD material.
Steve Hackett - 'Wolflight'
2 x 180g vinyl, packed in stiff card sleeves
First listen.
On vinyl. Great LP.
I feel like I am 19 again when I play this one.
Great album, recommended...
Greg Brown - Covenant.
New to me just heard a track on Radio Paradise, listening on Spotify Premium.
Hi Howard -
I'm a big fan of GB, and have seen him live a couple of dozen times. Always a great show - he is a master singer, player and story teller. My favorite albums of his are more folksy - One More Goodnight Kiss, In The Dark With You, and Poet Game, but I really do like them all. Covenant and Slant 6 Mind are darker, more bluesy.
He's a prolific writer, and his songs have been covered by many other artists. There's a lovely, all-female tribute album called Going Driftless that's also worth a listen.
ATB.
Hook
On vinyl.
Eric Clapton. Behind The Sun. On Duck Records vinyl from 1985. Another from my used vinyl picking on Sunday.
I feel like I am 19 again when I play this one.
And against what would you rebel today?

19 year-olds
Music for a broad audience to appreciate, during my workout
Then I dipped my nose into this during the workout, as far as i could get - great drive and swing. Have to hear this one out
Now my usual piano treat during breakfast. A Dutch player with a sensitive touch, living in a dream world....., a bit comparable to Michael Jackson
On CD:-

Mendelssohn ~ Complete Works for Piano and Cello (2012)
"To repair the injustice of Mendelssohn's current reputation with musicians as a 'minor' composer, Gary Hoffman and David Selig have recorded his complete works for cello and piano on the French label Dolce Volta. In order to do justice to Mendelssohn, the perfectly constructed balance of the pieces and the interplay between the two instruments, it was necessary to unite two close friends, working together in perfect harmony. Furthermore, Gary Hoffman plays a 1662 Nicola Amati cello, formerly in the possession of Count Mathieu Wielhorski, a friend of Mendelssohn to whom the composer dedicated his Sonata op.58."
"The first movement of the Sonata in D is launched with irresistible forward momentum. The level of musical insight is high throughout this impressive recital." -- Erik Levi, BBC Music Magazine Christmas Issue 2012.
Hi Steve
I have 'The Unforgiving' and enjoyed that. Guess I need to look at some of their others
"The Unforgiving" is a good album Russell, you could also try "The Heart of Everything" available S/H via a well known reseller at the moment for £1, or you can get a twin album pack of both "Mother Earth and Silent Force" for £4.90.
You can follow some great clips of them with the Metropole Orchestra, perhaps starting here on you tube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CcFwR-J7Rq8
