Needle drop this afternoon. Great recording of music that varies between excellent and meh.

Needle dropped long since, but had a few clicks and pops and so processed with ClickRepair, good result.

Always enjoyed this.

Needle drop this afternoon. Good.

Roger Waters. Amused To Death. On CD from 1992. Inspired by Graham's recent topic on the vinyl release date.

Michel Legrand: Live at Jimmy's 1975 Release

Pretty groovy set Legrand trio plays some of his movie soundtrack.

Ron Carter on bass, Grady Tate on drums , George Davis on guitars and Phil Woods on sax.

I think he's better at scoring original soundtrack ( love Umbrellas of Cherbourg! )than playing jazz.

Ghost of Things to Come

Posted on: 07 April 2015 by Bert Schurink

During workout, is an album which later was remixed again, while I do have the original version. This artist has created quite a number of good prog albums, this one is no exception.

Buena Vista Social Club ~ Buena Vista Social Club (1997)

Some lovely cuban sounds to go with this beautiful afternoon's weather.

Apparently there is a 24/96 remaster of this around, I would like to hear that.

24/96 WAV stream from HDTracks.

sounds really good. I cannot compare to CD but it is a very clear/vibrant sound.

Thanks for that Anton, I will download it from there and give it a try.

Steve, here is a short interview on channel 4 a couple of days ago. Fascinating how they  are still enjoying their music and performing after all these years.

Many thanks for that link Tony, great to know isn't it.

J.S. Bach ~ Pablo Casals~ Cello Suites and Ttranscriptions (1999)

Very slight "surface sound" on these restorations but the music and playing shines through.

Hi Stevee

This is a great recording in 24/192. Really shows what HD can do.

I think it was from Linn records.

You are right Anton, it is available from Linn in HD for £18. I also checked with Quobuz but could not see it there.

Haken ~ The Mountain (2013)

This album, their 3rd, continues to grow on me.

"It is a good many years since I have heard an album like this. What we have here is a prog rock album in the proper sense; this is to say one which takes the music in new and interesting directions. It does not sound like an old 70s band or a modern prog metal outfit. There are elements of the greats from all of these genres in evidence here. I was immediately reminded of Gentle Giant a great great band from the 70s in places but only in terms of their fearlessness in incorporating all sorts of different elements into the music. The musicianship is astonishing and there is a real gift for melody on many of these songs. Stand-outs for me were Cockroach King, Atlas Stone and Falling Back To Earth; there are no weak tracks." - An Amazonian reviewer
