The Allman Brothers Band - Eat A Peach (remastered CD)

Excellent stuff, from the definitely too short 'Little Martha', to the probably too long 'Mountain Jam'.

I suppose you mean an original copy, Steve?

There's a UK original being sold in Germany for £340 or, you probably know, there's always the reissue on the river for £17. Not the same, I know!

That's right Tony. There's no point buying a reissue as it's probably taken from the same digital source as the CD. The SQ of the CD is pretty good ripped onto the HD. I have an original minty copy of their other album Jug Of Love but in many ways I prefer Egyptian Tomb musically. Martin Stone is an excellent guitarist.

On (a brilliant) CD

Yes, Martin is a very accomplished  guitarist with a back catalogue of collaborations to prove it. Ive streammed some of his early work, from and including The Action, but have still to decided if or which albums  to buy.

The only other full album I have with him playing is on Savoy Brown's first album but I have some tracks on various blues compilations with him playing in Stone's Masonry and on early Savoy Brown singles.

Tony,

The singles released by Stone's Masonry and Savoy Brown with Martin Stone can be found on the two albums below. These were originally released on the Purdah label and now go for very big bucks.

I would strongly recommend this double LP on Sire Records. It's excellent and isn't expensive. There are a few for sale on Discogs.

This can be picked up for peanuts but IMO isn't as consistently good as the other album.

Rick Wakeman ~ Journey to the Centre of the Earth  (1974)

Having just got back in from the excellent "Another Night with Rick Wakeman" show featuring his superb solo skills as a pianist, composer, raconteur and comedian, it seemed only fitting to slip this on.
