Gap Mangione: Suit Lady 1978 release.
Larry Carlton produced album is groovy and funky ear candies.
The contents actually are a bit better than what cheezy cover art suggests.
And here's his famous brother.
Chuck Mangione: Fun and Games 1980 release.
I don't think he ever topped his 'Feel So Good'.
Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band. Night Moves. On Capitol orange label vinyl from 1976 with nice mastering by 'Wally'. The song "Sunburst" is a real hidden gem on this great classic rock album.
On vinyl. My copy from the week it came out. I might consider buying the new MFSL release if any one has any experience with it.

I saw him live around that time. Good show as I recall it.
Gieseking's Debussy Preludes Book II. This is an early '51 mono release from Columbia.
I'm back in foggy mists.
Holographic whispers from a distant past with a touch of sinister bent. Followed by morbid *Dead Leaves*. As if walking aimlessly in the woods. Or dream walking in a cemetery?

Pieranunzi is the Murray Perahia of the jazz piano, always leaving his ego at home, keeping the music honest and flowing.
Horowitz plays 3 pieces ( No.4, 5, 6 ) from Debussy Preludes Book 2. This is a first recording out of his long retirement. 1963 release.
A sheer elegance, opulence and colourful story telling.
Général Lavine is a perfect tune for him.

I'd bet it was pretty good. Live Bullet was the first Seger album I had. Still play it. I prefer his 1970s stuff.

Steely Dan ~ (1972 - 1980) [Long] Box Set (1998)
This disc (3) is in effect a combination of The Royal Scam (1976) and Aja (1977)
Steve,
Thanks for posting. I wasn't aware of this one. All my SD is on vinyl, but this would play well in my shop. Planning to order the set. Cheers!
My advice would be to get the earleist editions of the Steely Dan discs. This set has been treble boosted.
ewe,
Thanks. Your reply prompted me to look into the subject on the SH forum. What a can of worms I opened! Interesting but sad to read about the purported deterioration of the SD analog masters. I already have the SD vinyl to play in the house, so for my part I'm just looking for a CD set to play on the boombox in my shop and Citizen seems like good VFM for that purpose.

I have all original cds as well as the SHM Sacd's but the two tracks I miss having is Here at the Western World which is on this set and Dallas which was on the ABC E.p. but never re-released. Unfortunately since I gave up vinyl years ago I gave away my whole collection to friends foc.
Another great Tom Russell album.

Privileged friends indeed! BTW, you might be interested to know that while I was probing the SH forum I found someone there from Scotland named 'monewe' using your avatar

Harry Nilsson ~ The Real Harry Nilsson (2014)
An excellent 3 CD set (ordered chronologically) of the late Harry Nilsson.
After trying out the recent recording of Norma by Bartoli (I wish I hadn't), turning to Sills' flawed but ultimately so much more rewarding assumption of the role. This recording from the early 70s finds Beverly Sills in relatively good voice and wholly committed but also obviously a size too small for Norma, and somewhat lacking richness in the middle register. The tenor, Enrico di Giuseppe, is decent - he was an established supporting singer in New York and sounds like it. Shirley Verrett, here still in her mezzo years, is wonderful. James Levine, in one of his first opera recordings, conducts much better than he is often credited for, although he's prone to be taken over by the 'hum-pah-pah' that lurks in Bellini's score (it takes a Serafin to manage those).
Cheers,
EJ

This one because it hasn't been played for quite a while.
on vinyl
Haim, thanks for the reminder. Most days I look at a forest of CD's and need some inspiration to pick a tree or two. This is a CD that is fit for purpose and will really works for me today.
First listen. HDTracks download. Peter's guitar playing is brilliant as ever. His voice sounds eerily like the late Jack Bruce.

Definitely with you on the 1970s music. Much better than what followed.

I have to agree with all of that, I was a big fan through the late 70s, his were probably my most played albums for a couple of years. I don't think that "The Distance" 1982 was too bad though...
