This is one of my favourite Jackson Browne albums. Is it a CD or a download? Thanks.

Dave

It's the CD version I have, I just have it ripped for the convenience of listening to tracks on a playlist. I was lucky enough to come across nearly 2 dozen audio fidelity/DCC/MFSL CDs in a charity shop. Felt sorry for the poor sod who bequeathed all the CDs to his progeny only for them not to realise their value!

still, they've come to a good home.

SJB

If you can't afford the DCC get a copy of the Japanese 20P2 disc as it has a beautiful warm analogue sound to it.

How about the 24 bit - 96Khz. "Late For The Sky" (Édition Studio Masters) download from Qobuz?

Dave

I've had a listen to the 3 versions I have, In reality I find all 3 versions have their positives. None are ugly though. If you have a CD version I'd see little point in replacing it. If not the 2014 remaster is certainly good so presumably  the 24bit version will be at least as good (some believe it will actually sound better!)

SJB

I originally had this album on vinyl but the CD version, ALAC dbpoweramp rip I'm listening to, is a Warner Remaster by Greg Ladanyi. No date other than the original release 1974. Maybe not the greatest recording/mastering but OK. FWIW according to dr database the 1990 CD version is better than the Remastered version, whichever that one is?.

"I'm singin' this borrowed tune
I took from the Rolling Stones,
Alone in this empty room
Too wasted to write my own."

I have given up being distracted by the debate and thought of expensive new interconnects and cables and decided to crank the system up and enjoy.

And boy oh boy does it sound good.

Neil sounding mighty fine on one of my favourite LPs of his as I run in a Z plug tweak!

"I'm not goin' back

to Woodstock for a while,

Though I long to hear

that lonesome hippie smile.

I'm a million miles away

from that helicopter day

No, I don't believe

I'll be goin' back that way."

A newly arrived purchase. J.N drew my attention to this, never heard of Joe Satriani previously, and I followed JN's advice and tracked down one of the 1987 CDs on the Relativity label.

Wow, this rocks! Good reproduction too.  My volume control has been steadily nudging up. Thanks John.

Goran Ivanovic & Fareed Haque: Macedonian Blues.

Chicago based Fareed Haque and Croatian born Goran Ivanovic is an excellent example of the complex textures available to two acoustic guitars played by musicians with open minds and few technical limitations.

During my workout i listened to some Led Z, as always enjoyable. Especially the remasters in high res - while the difference is not huge

Stairway to heaven still one of my favorite songs...

Now listening to something completely different. It's always fascinating to compare the different recordings of a same piece in classical music. This is a good version...

Another Xmas pressie - Commune by Sweden's Goat: African music, Turkish textures, trance and psychedelia. Bluddy brilliant!

Frank Zappa  -YOU CAN'T DO THAT ON STAGE ANYMORE Vol.2-  c.d.

Complete concert of Roxy & Elsewhere line-up recorded in Helsinki. It has a version of 'Inca Roads' on it that the other live album doesn't have, but the amount of self-deprecating silly comedy is the same.

'Out to LUnch' again but in the main rig.

Even more brilliant colours via Briks.

On vinyl from the recent remasters. Turned out quite well. While I don't listen to it that frequently anymore it remains one of my all time favorites.

Once I thought I saw you

in a crowded hazy bar,

Dancing on the light

from star to star.

Far across the moonbeam

I know that's who you are,

I saw your brown eyes

turning once to fire.
