Yep. I agree with that dayjay.  The criticism of DS on here is undeserved.

decided to put a bit a mileage on my yet to be fully run-in TKR and found this little gem (in vinyl)  in my collection. i believe i bought this very cheap at what was then called "Farringdon Records" in the city -- its no longer there -- but as i recall, i bought a LOT of vinyl there.

OMG!!! what a great record!! and Sophie-Mutter was apparently only 14 when this was recorded? We are not worthy!!

i shall rummage the loft in case there are some more gems i bought at the same time --

enjoy

In my continuing audition of SLs cables I had to see how the delicious voice of Ms Krauss faired.  Oh, just a bit!

Harry Manx ~ Mantras for Madmen (2005)

It always surprises me that I so seldom see the excellent Harry Manx on this thread. This particular album is superb.

I saw them on Tuesday supporting Calexico at Shepherds Bush and was very impressed. Calexico were brilliant!

I find this album less attractive than the two before. It's in my opinion to much relying on rhythmic tricks and interplay between paino and drums, less as a trio...

It's a well known fact that Vivaldi didn't write the same concerto 600 times over. How do we know? Because every other review and booklet note confirms this.

Jokes aside - on their latest album, Rachel Podger and crew are on stunningly good form, and captured in demonstration quality sound.

Just got this in last week, also as a result of my current Norman Granz book that I am reading - despite the somewhat hokey title, it is an excellent collection - actually comprised of 3 concerts, but recorded in the 60's, and solid SQ, and top notch music and playing.

I have been a champion of him on the forum for years Steve. Very underrated artist whom I had the pleasure of seeing live and talking to last Oct. Nice guy.

James plays Rameau pieces with:

Oberheim OB-8, DSX, DMX, system; Roland Jupiter 8 & Vocoder; Yamaha GS-1 & 2; Mini-Moog.

It feels just wrong.

Air ~ 10,000Hz (2001)

Not a favourite amongst Air fans particularly when it was first released.

A very innovative jazz album, quite easily part of my top 10 in jazz for this year..

Ruby The Hatchet ~ Valley Of The Snake (24 Feb 2015)

I agree with every word that "Sorren" of this forum wrote about this band and this album. Such great news that bands like this this are still emerging, I thought those days had passed. Great stuff!!

"I fell in love with this album on first listen. Catchy riffs, great vocals and just the right vibe. Every so often I find a band that really appeals to me. Ruby The Hatchet is just such a band."

"Fantastic new album! Heavy hitting, hard rocking, mesmerising vocals and an all around fantastic heavy stoner psych sound."

Sorry Steve I've not been on the forums for a couple of weeks. It could take me that long to catch up on all the emails from the posts . I'm glad you like them.
