After watching several episodes of Live At Daryl's House, I was reminded of just how great this artist is.  If you are a (former) fan of Hall & Oates or just curious about the idea of the Philly Soul sound, this is a terrific album from 2011.  Meticulous songwriting, arrangements and performance.  The man does nothing half-way.  Just plain wonderful.

Thanks for this Jeff, I used to enjoy H&O  way back when so I'll see if I can add it to my Spotify playlist.

JJ Cale ~ 5 (1979)

Some Cale with my morning coffee.

As a footnote to the Daryl Hall thing, to anyone who doesn't know it, try the Fripp-produced (and arranged, played on) Sacred Songs, an album RCA sat on for over a year afraid it'd wreck Hall's career).

It's a terrific blend. Try  Babs And Babs, which starts off perfectly normal (and very Rundgrenesque) and gradually gets Fripped:

And the excellent Something In 4/4 Time:

And last word (promise). Daryl's House version of Babs And Babs (very very well done)

Weird morning reading a 50 page work document translated from Chinese by Google...and listening to this courtesy of Deezer Elite.

Hissing down with rain outside too.

Chris Isaak ~ Wicked Game (1991)

I used to enjoy the haunting, melancholy tones of this album. When (rarely) played these days it takes me back to some good times in Mexico about 25 years ago.

Freshly downloaded so having my first listen, early impressions are that this is excellent.

Hi Steve. Still catching up on the posts I've missed. Good choice. I have grown quite partial to a bit of Magenta

On CD - superb slice of primal Dead, with one of my very favourite "Dark Star"s and a scorching "Alligatror" Pigpen and Jerry on fire on this one.
