Run Around

One of the great winter journeys: Fassbaender's dramatic and intense 1988 recording, with Aribert Reimann.

Top draw modern jazz piano trio.

"At its best, "These Are Soulful Days" feels like a lost classic from the Blue Note vaults, and that's the highest praise that can be said about a project like this". AllMusic.com

Not listened to this for some time. Great album

Runs "Stormcock" a close second. Side 2 is a masterpiece: a love poem to an England now long past.

YES   -FRAGILE-   on c.d.

reminds of a lot of Porcupine Tree stuff, just more free and easy in sound, and less intense.

Tchaikovsky's last opera about the blind Iolanta, in a 90s studio recording from St. Petersburg. In the Kirov series, this is one of the best recorded and best sung entries. The music is glowingly beautiful but the story is episodic and dramatically shallow (but clocking in at a short 95 mins, it doesn't overstay its welcome).

Based on seeing it here & reading what others had to say - I had heard this in the past in college but I am glad someone brought it to the front for me.

The Beatles Anthology 1. On CD from 1995 (yes, it's been 20 years). These tapes are always fun to revisit. The energy, creativity, and quick maturation of the lads is striking on this first set of CDs.

CD Rip (FLAC) from my NAS:

Murray Perahia - "Chopin Etudes"

Classical music currently does not constitute a huge amount of my listening time, but it is impossible not to be moved by this music and the technical ability of Murray Perahia. To cap it all, these discs are beautifully recorded with no apparent dynamic compression.

A great way to return to my system from my Christmas holidays.
