Christina - The Light

Christina - The Light. Dropped through my letter box this morning along with the album below. Both ripped to FLAC 44.1kHz 16 bit. Two very engaging albums from Magenta's front-woman. Her voice is as good as always and the music is very good indeed.

That looks interesting Russell, I didn't think to look out for her as a solo artist. Is a download available or is it just on CD?

You have been very busy with your shopping trolley over on the 'camp site of late. I have been following your additions with interest while nervously feeling my wallet...

On CD:-

Morton Feldman - Piano And String Quartet

Aki Takahashi (piano) & The Kronos Quartet

Modern classical with a minimalist slant. This will probably go down like a fart on an elevator, but though this may seem like it takes a (very) long time to go nowhere (it doesn't really go anywhere), if it gets you, it really gets you.

I've spent the afternoon ripping CDs (still on the As) and this has been playing while I stare out of the window, the wind buffeting the trees  and blowing the clouds across the sky creating ever-changing patterns across the valley. One of those magical moments of music and nature.

Streaming | 16/44.1 FLAC [Bandcamp] Download

Perge ~ Attalus (2013)

More good Berlin School ambient electronic music from this UK band.

..." heavily influenced by the "classic" Tangerine Dream period. New compositions painstakingly created to have the signature sound of the Franke / Froese / Schmoelling years, but this time with some of the Baumann and Haslinger eras in there too."

Hi Steve. No download that I could find unfortunately. I had to go to magenta-net and pre-order so I wasn't expecting them for a while yet making it a nice surprise. There's a special version of Spectral Mornings being released soon for charity too.

The Christina albums seem very good so far. Well worth a listen.

I have been a little naughty on Bandcamp but I keep finding this really great music . You've not been doing too badly yourself, I've been looking at your collection and thinking that Sea Bastard may be in my order. It's nice to have something a little different to most of the other stuff I've got.

Thanks for the info' I had a look for downloads too but no luck either.

One of the many good albums and discoveries I've downloaded very recently has been Red Giant by Barrows. It rather caught me by surprise and blew my socks off on first listen! If you are in the mood for something heavy and different I can really recommend it. It is amazingly, a "name your price" download so nothing to loose but I did pay for it after my first full fat listen.

Thanks Steve, I'll give them a listen. I've always been into the heavy stuff .

That's the way I normally use the "name your price" download to listen properly them but them on the next order.

Really good album

Heard this for the first time today having selected a Youtube prog. mix whilst doing some decorating. Certainly warrants further investigation.

Spent the afternoon feeding cats and dogs of friends away. So i had a couple of hours doggystyling with my chainsaw as we are tasting a slice of summer here.  Added to the damn rest it makes me feel i can say that's the only rational reason i have to listen to this record.

You could call it "now let me hear why you buy our stuff".

Just the other day i was thinking why boys and girls at Naim do not make their internet streaming (or whatsoever) channel. With the contribution of members and customers? An entire channel with interwievs of people in music and audio. Makers and users. And the most democratic playlist ever on the www

Ok i'm going to sleep.

Life is just too short to worry about certain petty things, isn't it Jeff? Now back to the music.

Bad thing is they know Richard's first name, and therefore, probably know where the key is kept.

So to make my last of two posts today fully in compliance:

The Archies "Absolutely The Best Of ......"

The first time this was posted here I payed little attention to it as there was no WHY info included.  But when someone posted it again later they indicated not only Veronica and Betty were on it, but Moose and Midge as well.  I have been a fan ever since.  And remember, without the Archies, there would have been no Scooby-Doo.

Highly recommended.

p.s. And for those who dare to rent their music, available on Spotify Premium (US).  Seriously !

And don't forget, if you listen in alphabetical order (ever since Apple), The Archies come before Bach.

Mahler Symphony No.9 in D

A little venture into some classical this evening.

I think I've concluded that this is may favourite Tori Amos album.  Indeed, having played it all the way through once I immediately hit the 'play' button and listened to it again!

Tchaikovsky Overture 1812 - Philadelphia Orchestra, Ricardo Muti, EMI ASD3956

Why? Because it's a red hot recording and I'm enjoying a vinyl fest with my Ittok tone arm before having it changed for an Aro later this week!

Not from the same album, but an excellent video concert with Tori, Matt Chamberlain on drums and John Evans on bass.
