Giving Francois Couperin's Pieces de Clavecin.

It is a bit overwhelming to digest all at once but I am struck with beautiful and inviting tone of the cembalo played. Excellent low end weight very unusual for a harpcichord and warm and natural midrange with holographic ringing tone with plenty of note decays after the string being *plucked*.

Upon checking the liner note, this instrument is made in 1624! then enlarged in Couperin's time twice (1680 & 1720 ) without altering the casing.

I am beginning to think that Landowska might have done more harm for cembalo PR with that awful tin pots banging primitive harpsichord of hers.

Excellent early digital EMI recording. (1989)

Great album, a bit different start on Saturday morning as compared to my normal Saturday morning.

Hopkinson Smith ~ Bach Suites nos.4.5.6 (2013)

These have been arranged so well  [by Smith] for his intricate and delicate playing on the lute.

Brahms' sextets by the quartet without a name, and friends - don't miss that gorgeous melody of the first sextet's andante!

Heard for the first time tonight, very inventive

"Monobody are a newly formed instrumental 5-piece from the US who mix superb musicianship, imaginative composition and groove driven melodies to create a sound that features elements of jazz, pop, math and progressive rock.

Interesting. Reminds me of National Health with that jazzy complexity. Which is a good thing. Stupid that you can't listen on Bandcamp though - had  to go to Youtube.

On vinyl. In memory of their great bassist Rutger Gunnarsson, who died suddenly yesterday at just 69. One of the very best bass players ever.

Less familiar and on a smaller scale, Handel violin sonatas are played expertly by Manze on the violin and Egarr on the harpsichord.

2014 Definitive Edition CD - I like this version SQ. I have the SACD released a year ago and I think this version sounds better.

After seeing the today's victory day parade footage I needed to play something which would calm me down.
