Still fascinated with the sound of this Ruckers Cembalo.

Google image search found this instrument.

No wonder it can reach down low and above average rich bass resonance and ample spacious midrange than normal harpsichord.

It's much bigger than I expected! :0

EMI Testament LP.

Compared to Angel mono, a massive improvement in low level details, scale and dynamics.  Excellent instrument separation and clarity.

Altho, upper frequencies are not entirely transparent losing a bit of natural balance.

Compared to Skrawaczewski set, perhaps less theatrical but classy rendering all around. This is a Mother Goose for grown ups.

Hopkinson Smith ~ Bach Sonatas & Partitas (2008)

Beautifully transcribed once again by HS. He is surely a master of the lute (this one a 13 course Baroque lute) and this well recorded double CD is another joy from him.

I can't agree with you Bert but, its good and very enjoyable as are the majority of their albums.

That's the nice thing about music, everybody has it's own taste and that's exploring each other interests make so great. For the best indication, it's difficult to say that as such as you have in principle a top 10 in each style - and depending on the mood you prefer one. Other great ones are from Transatlantic, Sylvan, Porcupine Tree and others...

ps what's your. Favorite ?

Hi Bert, yes I agree with you about being able to compare other people's differing tastes and opinions of various music styles on here, it has certainly expanded my horizons and increased my musical collection, knowledge and desire to explore yet more.

As to your question. I can't honestly give an answer to that, however my preference for progressive rock comes from an earlier generation starting in the late 60s with the likes of King Crimson, Genesis, Yes and others.
