Joey Alexander - My Favourite Things

The debut album by the 11-year old "wunderkind" from Bali who has been taking the jazz world by storm. No one this young should be playing jazz piano like this. Amazing.

Santana ~ Supernatural (1999)

A lively and rhythmic start to the day with this one.

Bernstein plays and directs Ravel Piano concerto with NY Phil. 1959 release.

Fussy, busy and jazzy. Not keen on Lenny's piano style which filled with cheezy filgrees and accents cheapeing the score somewhat. Not the most fluid style and certainly not very French as far as piano playing is concerned.

I wonder what Ravel's reaction would have been on this reading.

This is an Impex 2010 reissue with lacquer cut by Kevin Gray and Robert Pincus and pressed at RTI.

Persuasive performances of these requiems, with great contributions from singers, choir and especially the large organ. A sonic spectacular, too.

Haven't heard Leslie for some time overall over the Liszt collection a quite decent performance, while of course individual better version exist.

A lot of my friends who are Dylan buffs hate it, but I am rather enjoying it thus far.

I really like this album too. The Pedal Steel Guitar is amazing.

It is, Bish. I like the fact that Dylan has chosen his touring band to back him, rather than the more obvious choice of a big band.

Too late to post by the time I went to bed last night but finished the evening off with ...

Fairport Convention - Rising for the Moon

Fairport Convention - Rising for the Moon. Always good last thing it's mellow sound suits the wee small hours and Sandy's voice is always magical. 'One More Chance' and 'White Dress' are particularly mesmerizing.

Thanks MDS. Listened to this last night following your recommendation. I'm not the greatest Fleetwood Mac fan but this album has got some great tracks on it. I always loved The Chain from the motor racing

Time for some of the late great JGW. Here he is in his mid-70s pomp, playing all the instruments (aside from drums and horns) on this pimp-tastic slice of seductive funk. The guitar playing is astonishing. UK first press vinyl.

Ace triple-CD Harvest anothology. Barely a duff track there, apart from some unwelcome and prissy intrusions by the likes of the Collins sisters:

One of the all time great rock albums, if you can't hear the angst and emotion in this you need a new system

Yes, all three of the "cocaine trilogy" have aged magnificently, in my view. I enjoy them all more than ever.
