Joe Walsh. But Seriously Folks. On the Asylum clouds label vinyl from 1978. My copy was mastered by Ted Jensen at Sterling Sound and based purely on its sonic qualities is one of the top five or so pressings I have. Musically its a brilliant album as well.

CCR. Cosmo's Factory. On the Fantasy blue label vinyl from 1970. A fantastic album and I think "Ramble Tamble" might be the best of the bunch on this one; it has a very edgy, sinister sound to it.

Idiosynchratic interpretation of the Appassionata. The entire score runs over 30 mins.

Reading up on his liner notes, he does not rate this score heavily. I have a feeling CBS/Columbia execs. probably made him play this popular piece.  He's playing it with his tongue firmly planted on his cheek. In spite highly unorthodox rendering there’s something fresh and endearing about it. I am having fun with him.

Personally Moonlight is what I have trouble listening due to over exposure over the years. ( sort of like Debussy's Clair de Lune.

I have never heard a convincing Beethoven performance from Rubinstein even when he was younger. ( this is recorded when he was 82 so considering the age, he's good but oh boy all the corners are rounded off )

Artur playing it like Chopin piece.

Altho, I enjoyed his documentary film 'Love of Life'.

I am convinced that he's just not angry enough to pull off Beethoven pieces.

Maria Muldaur: Sweet Harmony 1976 Release

Mixtures of many style of music from country western to vintage torch songs and charleston.

I loved her fay voice.

Horowitz's '72 recording of Appassionata.

Not as clean as his last 1959 RCA recording of this piece there is a slight hesitation and lagging of timing. Big swing and grand dynamic contrasts are still there and more madness than sedate and mellow Rubinstein. A breath of fresh air than many but his older performance are much fluid and transparent. This set comparatively sounds a bit laboured and constricted. Tell tale sign is that I am losing interest in the slow movement where the RCA set kept me hanging all the way to the end.

Easy for the bass to get out of control on this recording with a less than optimal room/speaker/amp configuration.

My favourite of the later albums.
