Have you heard Joe's recent album 'Analog Man'? Dunno if he gets the irony, but the recording/mastering quality is utter shite. I got rid of it.
John.
Speaking of which John could you perhaps point me towards a site that analyses mastering quality / compression levels and so on? This would be of interest to see how remasters for example compare to the original releases.
Steve
Hi Steve,
And Joe - You got me into a JW groove. 'So What' is rotating under the Kandid as I type. Marvellous. His delightfully pissed-off expression just doesn't do it on the smaller CD art-work.
John.
This is the album that from its release turned me into a life-long Led Zep fan. LZII remains my favourite album of the band. Indeed it's probably my favourite album, period.

Streaming wav...Something smooth and chilled after a manic day/week....bliss

Its a fantastic album, they never got better than this for me
One dose of Led Zep not enough. So LZI follows. This is also a Japanese re-master CD from a box-set. What a debut album?!
On vinyl...

Yes, dayjay. I know the 'best LZ album?' debate on here produces a variety of views and quite a few plumb for PG but for me the first three albums stand head-and-shoulders above the rest. I would order them II, I, III, but it's close as I love them all.

I wouldn't disagree, I have to say though that Led Zep 1 is an astonishing debut album by any standard
Just bought this today - a very enjoyable album, this will not be the last time I will listen to this album...
Good album I like everything that Simon Postford has done in his various guises.
Insurgentes Steven Wilson
First play on the new system..... fantastically well recorded album Stunning
Thanks Rob. Sounds very nice. Ordered here too.
John.
If you like that one try their first album Identity also highly recommended!!! Sorry just spotted your post there Peter, yes it might just sound ok
Never heard of Airbag until I saw this, looked it up, ordered from Amazon. Have had first listen via the download as the CD is on its way. REALLY liked it! Cheers Guys. Simon.

I assume you'd also like Jeff Beck's 'Truth' and 'Beck-Ola' then? They are remarkably similar to LZ1.
Desolation Angels, Bad Company, my favourite album by these even though their debut album was a classic. Far enough from Free to be completely different but not so far that they'd drifted into the disco sound effects. Really enjoyable album

I've not heard them but thanks for the tip, I'll fire up Spotify at some point and try them
This after watching the excellent Blue Note ; A Story of Modern Jazz on BBC4 this evening.
From the Music Matters 33 series.
Naked Music various 12" turn of the century disco singles and remixes.
All vocal provided by lovely Lisa Shaw.
The Best of Chet Baker Plays on Blue Note to be follow by Chet Baker Sings.
Tchaikovsky Symphony 5: Excellent story telling as usual by Mravinsky/Leningrad Symphony 1960 recording.
Heavy Russian pathos but always in a good taste.
Karajan/Berliner's Tchaikovsky's 5th.
Slow but luxurious Cadillac ride.
Rich and lush rendition, harmonic textures showing through in abundance placed in a huge soundstage.
Ultra polished beautiful as usual and sometimes too beautiful but for Tchaikovsky program, Karajan's over dramatisation/sweetening seems to be less of a detriment here.
