One of the very few works composed for solo violin. Thomas Zehetmair is doing a commendable job on an ECM disc:

Well, I love her playing on all the albums of hers that I own. I've never heard the music before, so it's impossible for me to judge it against other recordings. But, as they say, it sounds good to me.

Counting Crows "Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings"

I'll leave the SQ judgements to the self-appointed golden ears.  The music is A+ and the guitar playing is sublime.

Specificaly  the tracks that should have been on the definitive single disc are:

Over and over

Think about me

Sara

Storms

Not that funny

Sisters of the moon

Angel

Brown eyes

Honey Hi

Beautiful child

Tusk

Made this into a playlist for listening later today.  I enjoy the whole album but could see how a shortened version might work better, depending on mood.

Its a fantastic album, they never got better than this for me

Yes, dayjay.  I know the 'best LZ album?' debate on here produces a variety of views and quite a few plumb for PG but for me the first three albums stand head-and-shoulders above the rest.  I would order them II, I, III, but it's close as I love them all.

Mike

I wouldn't disagree, I have to say though that Led Zep 1 is an astonishing debut album by any standard

I assume you'd also like Jeff Beck's 'Truth' and 'Beck-Ola' then? They are remarkably similar to LZ1.

I've not heard them but thanks for the tip, I'll fire up Spotify at some point and try them

I got both albums on one CD for £5 from Fopp a few years ago, but I see they're still available separately. 'Truth' preceded LZ1 and Beck accused Page of stealing his heavy blues-rock ideas. In fact both albums include versions of Willie Dixon's 'You Shook Me'. It's interesting now to look back at the different directions taken by both guitarists and how Page effectively stagnated after Led Zeppelin, yet Beck continues to explore and develop in the jazz-rock field.

Thanks for the tip, Clive. I think I'll research those Beck albums too.

Bought this CD ages ago for a very cheap price, £3, so wasn't expecting much.  I've only just got around to playing it today and I must say early impressions are positive.  The reproduction of this live performance is much better than I expected, lending a nice variance to songs that are so familiar.

Having earlier enjoyed a recording of a live performance by Fleetwood Mac, I thought I'd dig out another live recording.  Disc 2 from Pulse is, of course, the live version of DSOTM and the bass pulse at the end is really something.
