i'm listening to Green Dessert by Perge.

Thanks to a tip-off on this very thread, brilliant 70s / 80s mix of Tangerine Dream. Total plagiarism but done so, so well you won't care.

Hi Rob. This one's been on my "To Buy" list for a while now but somehow I haven't got around to doing it. I've had it recommended a few times. Must have a look around.

Russell

Joe Walsh. The Smoker You Drink, The Player You Get. On original vinyl from 1973. The second and final Barnstorm album, the band went on to record with Michael Stanley on his "Friends And Legends" album. Now I'm going to have to find a copy of that LP. Thanks Wikipedia .

Great album. I'm on a bit of a Joe Walsh bender lately and spinning this on original vinyl. Has a lovely embossed inner sleeve.

Listeneing to the last track: Bedouin

Just posted my impressions in the MM Blue Note thread.

Johann Sebastian Bach:  Jean Rondeau (Harpsichord)

Suite in C minor BWV 997

Sonata in D minor BWV 964 (Violin Sonata BWV 1003, transcription W.F. Bach)

Chacoone in D minor (from Violin Partita BWV 1004, transcription J. Brahms)

Partita for flute in A minor BWV 1013 (transcription Delplace)

Concerto in the Italian style in F major, BWV 971

Adagio in G major, BWV 968 (from Violin Sonata BWV 1005, transcription W.F. Bach)

Imagine, a very pleasing keyboard recital, played on a harpsichord.

Edvard Grieg:  Stephen Hough (Klavier)

Lyric Pieces

The front cover illustration is The Mill Stream, by Fritz Thaulow (1847-1906).  As expected, Stephen Hough's playing remains consistently cold and unemotional very unlike the warmer, flowing impression of the cover image.

The tune like this was my every day soundtrack from the past.

Unusual Deep House band and label called 'NEEDS'  from Frankfurt am Main.

Horenstein/Philharmonia Tchaikovsky Symphony 5. Recorded 1968.

Very Romeo & Juliet ballet like take on the piece.

All legato and very lush. All the guts taken out of the score and skimming just a surface beauty.

From the Hyperion website. A searching, screaming account of these sonatas. I have at home this one below which is also interesting, but I guess less screaming/emotional
