Amália Rodrigues - Haunting Fire of the Fado

I was reading the story of Ferdinand the Bull to my 3 year old earlier today, which put me in mind of this Iberian treasure.

Was years back one of my favorite albums (of course in original recording)...., now I listened to it during my workout and didn't like it as much anymore. One where it sounds old fashioned - but not the old fashioned I like anymore. A pity...

Her follow up to Innocence is Kinky for which she received rave reviews.  On this album she once again wrangles with sex and identity through avant-garde soundscapes, spoken word, and electronica.

Triple vinyl compilation of Nigerian psych, rock and afro-rock from the 1960s and 70s. Not exactly hi-fi, but some extraordinarily good stuff on here...

Another flawed gem from the world's greatest-ever (for a bit, anyway), record label. Double LP-compilation from late 1980, containing a side each from The Durutti Column, Kevin Hewick, Blurt and The Royal Family & The Poor:

Steven Wilson's "Hand.Cannot.Erase". I've got this on vinyl, CD, and in surround sound. I'm playing the latter in 5.1 which is the best version of all :-

Mumford and Sons - Wilder Mind

Mumford and Sons - Wilder Mind. The new Mumford and Sons. They certainly seem to follow a different path with this one. It may take a few more listens before I can judge if I like it or not. Some original drum rhythms but I would never have guessed it was their work if I hadn't known.

A classic, Rob. Bowie's best IMO, closely followed by Ziggy Stardust.

Jimi's on form this evening.  Ezy Ryder on this is superb.
