Hi Tony. I know what you mean. I finally managed to rip all the hires versions from the bluray including the 5.1 but even through my cheap Sony player/AV amp/Tannoy satellite speakers the 5.1 mix sounds brilliant.

A great counterpoint to Tatiana Nikolayeva.

It's been a while I listened to Richter's piano playing.

I don't understand everything he's doing but he remains one of my piano hero of all time.

This is a first European ( EMI ) recording done at the Abbey Road studio in 1961.

Very dramatic a la Joan Crawford suffering in mink.

Nirvana. Incesticide. On CD from 1992. I was inspired to play this (my son's CD) after watching "Montage of Heck" yesterday. A compilation of demos and alternate versions of songs recorded before but released after "Nevermind". Heavy music raw and full of angst, yet very genuine and energetic.

George Harrison. All Things Must Pass (1970). On CD from 2001. A landmark album that liberated George from the Beatles and established him as a profound songwriter. Harrison's personally remixed version breathes more life and air into the recordings than the original Spector mix.

Pires' Le Voyage Magnifique was the follow-up to the very successful recording of Chopin's nocturnes, and one of the first victims of DG starting to use silly titles for classical albums. Which in this case does not hint at Pires' honest, unadorned approach to these works. I love her Schubert in a way I love Perahia's (in fact, more so), they both seem to realise that with Schubert, most of the music comes from between and underneath the notes. Recording is excellent.

+1 great album indeed

As said before interesting album, however also a bit too much repeating elements in it. So final verdict stands out for me...

While not professionally recorded - this one has high value for me as it's a great account how well these guys have been playing...

A classic, Rob. Bowie's best IMO, closely followed by Ziggy Stardust.

+1 Can't argue with you on that Mike.

Music Matters 45rpm Vinyl Great start to the morning

I keep on returning to this album. It is in a way a kind of "happy" relaxed jazz trio sound, don't know how to describe it better.
