Tony never been a great fan of theirs but must admit to quite liking this album. If you want to hear samples pop over to Amazon US as I know they have them up there.

Thanks, Ewe. Will do. I do like their early stuff because they are so "unconventional"  and I have seen some good reviews. If no good, it goes back.

Tony just checking around the web this morning and discovered that overnight the Belle and Sebastion album has been put up on NPR first listen so pop over there to listen to all the tracks.

Just listened to it in its entirety and I do like it. Hopefully it will sound a lot better on vinyl.

While visiting the site I also discovered  Kat Dahlia's My Garden. That's an angry lady and what a voice. One to look out for. Thanks again.

I wasn't at that John Martyn gig but was at the Live at Bristol 1991, another great CD. Curved Air's North Star is a real grower, there is also a live LP which came out on Record Store Day last year which has some of the tracks on it. Just listening to Little Feats 'Electrif Lycanthorpe' live CD, released last year, recorded in 1974. An astounding performance and fantastic SQ. Its sounds great on my Saturn, must be awesome on a triple 5. It blows Waiting for Columbus out of the window.

"Changes" contains no standards, just 3 totally improvised tracks. The first two tracks comprise "Flying Parts 1 & 2" which have several sections while the final track "Prism" has a beautiful melody.

Rec. Jan. 1983

Inspired by Sloop John B's Jarrett/Peacock/DeJohnette "Inside Out" album above.

I was at one of the two shows that make up this disc. I remember being so disappointed having gone to hear the trio play standards and getting this  - my previous Jarrett gig was in Paris and was released as the Whisper Not CD so I had set a pretty high bar with that show.

Anyway I am playing it now and enjoying it more than I did then.

Being playing this the past week - the final swan song from late great Kenny Wheeler.

It's a beautiful album, with a fab band. His playing/tone is not as strong as it once was but it is still beautiful and a fine ending to a fabulous career.

I assume this is what you are all referencing

I was so pleased I got to see this Kenny Wheeler Quintet at the Barbican in late 2013 (with the wonderful John Taylor substituting on piano).

It was a lovely performance, full of warmth between the band, and from the audience. And humour too.

A fabulous career as you say Lontano

Paul Simon's self titled solo debut album was released 45  years ago.

Certainly he's dressed for the cold weather we've been having.

The original US release sounds great and this album does not sound dated at all.
