Counting Crows. This Desert Life. On CD from 1999. I like this album. Adam Duritz's lyrics always struck me with their deep and poignant restlessness. Like a lost soul forever searching for something unattainable. And this makes much more sense to me now, having only recently read about his battle with dissociative disorder.

Seems like it was just a few years ago when Paul Simon's 'Still Crazy After All These Years'.

This is the first time I listen to the whole album all the way through courtesy of Mike's Aging Boomer Collection. This album contains a star-studded line up with many hits. Plus gorgeous analogue sound from the mid 70s US Columbia.

No wonder this won 2 Grammy in 1975.

Highly polished through out and good song writing and no *fillers* on this album.

Kuma,

Paul Simon/Roy Halee productions are easily among the top sound quality LPs in my collection. Glad you're enjoying Mike's records. Looks to be a fun collection and I like his musical taste. Cheers!

The Pretenders. Debut LP on Sire vinyl from 1980. In the mood for something with some drive and energy.

Bruce Springsteen. Greetings From Asbury Park, N.J. (1973). I have not heard a 1973 pressing of this LP, but the 1975 (PC Columbia) pressing sounds very good with a lively, realistic edge to the vocals.

Certainly he's dressed for the cold weather we've been having.

The original US release sounds great and this album does not sound dated at all.

Excellent album.

Negotiations and Love Songs 1971-1986

A good compilation for the uninitiated.

Had a complete listen to it now. It has grown a bit on me, which doesn't mean I would regard it as a great album. It's by the way one of the albums which clearly the difference in system quality between the Muso and my main system. While the Muso is great, there are multiple parts of this album which show the hands down extra ps of my main system.

A good playlist especially if you include "Graceland" as well.

Joe.

The best part was I did not pay for those!

I will be keeping both albums for sure. I think after those two albums he went into a slightly different direction. Along with Simon and Garfunkel LPs, these are enough to savour his art.

Mike's stash has an awful lot of female vocals and I will be examining Linda Ronstadt catalogue later. I know her hit tunes but she was never on my radar to buy any of her albums.

Here's another *first time* listen from Mike's Stash.

My Roxy Music connoisseur friend called me I am a big LOSER for not liking this album.:/

According to her, this is supposed to be the best album they put out. I love Avalon but not this one so this record is going to her.

Oh yes, brilliant stuff. This, as well as Hearts and Bones. Throw in Graceland and it's a trio of truly great records.

Just listening to Little Feats 'Electrif Lycanthorpe' live CD, released last year, recorded in 1974. An astounding performance and fantastic SQ. Its sounds great on my Saturn, must be awesome on a triple 5. It blows Waiting for Columbus out of the window.

I finally bought a vinyl copy of Electrif Lycanthrope last year and am really impressed with it. It was rumoured at the time that although a bootleg Lowell George had some hand in it (of course that's the sort of thing the bootleggers would say!) I also have another bootleg from that period - Live at the Santa Monica Civic which is very good. There was also a cd of them live at Ebbetsfield - Late Night Truckstop - available a couple of years ago. But I think EL is the best. I heard part of Waiting for Columbus years ago and was not impressed, but after reading so often that it was one of the best live rock recordings of all time, I bought the expanded version and was disappointed again! One of my big regrets was not buying tickets to see them in London when they were supporting the Doobie Brothers and supposedly then became the headliners on the tour.

That's a quartet of Paul Simon solo albums mentioned so far I think? Add "There Goes Rhymin' Simon", "One Trick Pony" and "The Rhythm of the Saints" and you'll have a septet of truly great albums on your format of choice.
