Thanks for the recommendation Russell

"Very slick light rock described by themselves as electro-acoustic. Catchy without being cheesy or too poppy and very well played."

You're welcome Steve. Glad you like them

On cd. To be honest I forgot I had this album lurking in a box of old cds in the closet.

Interesting that I never thought that Furtwangler directed Tchaikovsky.

This *bootleg* looking 1952 album is in a historical grade sonically but surprisingly low noise and listenable.

Beautifully directed, Furtwangler brings a Germanic touches to the score.

Jörg Demus: Schumann Fantasy OP.17 1952 recording.

Demus, despite studied under many piano greats, never reached the A list stardom.

Pondering and passionless rendering, not at all like the lovely sensious cover art.

Rhythmically challenged and stiff. Not quite aristocratic or opulent as Richter or Horowitz. The music sounds too safe. Passion and emotions should be turbulent. It’s more convincing if the music treads on the edge for this tune. There is no technical wiz bang of Pollini so this set has nothing to hang its hat on.

Plus side is this original Westminster mono is one of the nicest sounding record from the 50s.

Very little distortions and lovely intimate midrange with solid bass dynamics.

Bad Company. Straight Shooter (1975). On the original Swan Song vinyl. I've been listening some high quality SQ albums of late and this one certainly fills the bill.

Steely Dan. Countdown To Ecstacy. On original vinyl from 1975. More great music with especially fine SQ.

Sorry... may I ask where this album can be purchased. I see it mentioned on the pledge site but not where to buy it from. Am I being thick?

Playing CD1 of 2 from the well remastered Deutsche Grammophon tribute to Segovia, breathing life and clarity into some of the older original recordings from as early as the '50s.

(1994)

A nice album of Julian Bream's considerable skills. This time very much in Spanish mode played with great style, emotion and sensitivity for the pieces.
