Big Big Train ~ English Electric: Full Power (2013)
Following my disappointment at BBTs recently released EP I felt the need to listen to the second part of this, their excellent and best work to date.
On CD:-
Heard some of this on Charles Hazlewood's series of radio programmes on progressive rock and thought it was about time I filled in this gap in my record collection.
Talisman, Dole Age, The 1981 Reggae Collection from Bristol Archive Records, on vinyl....

Really excellent album from these boys who describe themselves as "a progressive rock band gone post-rock instrumental." Vocalist free, the music is immediately accessible, well played and recorded. It has just gone into my shopping trolley over on Bandcamp.
"Euphoric post-rock melodies to die for – songs that immediately impress, creating a blissful and emotionally uplifting musical experience...." ~ A Bandcamp Patron
Sounding staggeringly detailed in no small part due to the SL speaker cable I have no doubt.
From Bandcamp - refreshing music ...

This is one of those albums that just grab you right from the off. This four piece band from Philli' is heavy but musical and well driven with a strong female lead vocal (Jillian Taylor).
"The guitar fuzz and organ elements are psychedelic, but nod to roots in blues rock, proto-metal and prog, with a small amount of doom ..."Heavy Blanket" features hooky melodies as catchy as "Vast Acid." The acoustic driven title track closes out the album, taking its time to unfold, reaching a suitably rocking crescendo, laced with ghostly, almost dubby flutes". - A Bandcamp Patron

The wonderful delicate playing of Hopkinson Smith again.
Steve,
Another outstanding (performance and sound) Weiss lute music is Eduardo Eguez recording:

The youtube is not part of the album which is not recorded live.
Many thanks Haim, I have listened to this excellent album before and will have a look at the youtube clip later on today.
This MA recording is outstanding, really love this record!
Been gifted this on CD:
Mr C running out of ideas mayhap? It's good its way but, why bother?

I've seen quite a few posts of Melody Gardot albums on here, so thought I'd investigate. £11.19 downloaded from Qobuz or £2.99 from Amazon. Hmmmm. Anyway, it's very good in a Madeleine Peyroux sort of why. As I like Madeleine Peyroux, that's a good thing. I thought I'd start with her early stuff and work forwards. Let's hope the quality is maintained.
Vinyl..

Something of a tribute to the late Sir Christopher Lee perhaps.

In my view Melody's best work, HH, though I yet to get her latest album

Hmm, you've prompted me to dig out my copy later this evening. An already excellent re-production that the SL cables should enjoy exploiting.

I'd forgot he featured on the cover, but yeah why not.
As prompted by RobT's earlier play. Money for Nothing in shorter version was released as a single by DS and had some success at the time but while something of a commercial offering I've always enjoyed the album version and its build-up culminating in the thunderous drums before the song gets into its rhythmic stride. Even on my old Heybrook HB2s this had terrific impact. Now, through my Electra 1028s, wow! A song that makes it impossible to keep your feet still.
Why? My son has control of the app.
Not a bad album though
