aht,

When it comes to female vocalist, I am more old skool in the likes of Joni Mitchell, Carole King and Carly Simon. :/

Milstein/Piatigorsky/Reiner/Cleveland Orchestra Brahms Double Concerto 1951 recording

Measured but very earthy performance.

"Recorded live in concert at the Capstone Theatre, Liverpool on 15th November 2014, this is the sixth live album by ARC. The performance features four tracks from the duo’s previous live CD album Umbra (DiN45) alongside forty minutes of new material spread over the remaining three pieces.

The music on Arclight features all the trademark ARC elements of thunderous sequencing, grand choral pads & ambient electronic textures." - From the Bands Newsletter

Bruce Springsteen. Magic. On CD from 2007. The overall sound fitting for a hot summer night in the midst of our current heat wave. It's a loud album with some sultry tracks.

Listening to this one Spotify, to see if it's interesting enough to buy as we have a daily deal of this on eclassical (great deals by the way)...

Inspired by Adam's Unitiqute thread (and the issues of the definite article when it comes to metadata), I dug out this one; Infected.  I remember buying this first on cassette - so I could immediately hear it in the car - and then on vinyl, and a little later on CD.  The summer of '87 and it was a permanent fixture in the Pioneer radio cassette inside my VW Golf.  I got a summer holiday job working as a messenger for a London law firm.  There I learn't not a lot about the law but a whole load about betting on the horses.  In one amazing week, not only did I have my first 100-1 win but also my first win on an accumulator, and best of all, I heard a rumour in the mailroom that Matt Johnson's brother was a trainee at the very firm where I was working.  For some reason that eclipsed all the excitement of the horses, but sadly I never got to meet Mr Johnson...

What do you think, Bert? The music strikes me as rather dutiful rather than inspired, simplistic tunes wearing a modernist, but worn, coat. Not a lot of charm, bleakness or even sarcasm, here, whatever Weinberg went for.

Hi EJ,

it's perhaps not the most exiting, but I still appreciated it enough to spent the less than 6 euros. It's simple, but has it beautiful aspects.
