Backhaus' Brahms Intermezzi, Rhapsody and Capriccio. Recorded in 1956.
Overall Autumnal and introspective collection of short pieces. Front end of the tunes are gentle and yearning. Almost like Sinatra’s ‘September Years’.
Bold, clear and uncluttered, aging Backhaus is perfect for this.
Lou Reed and John Cale-Songs for Drella on vinyl. Interesting album about Andy Warhol.
Green Day. Nimrod. On HDCD from 1997. Billie Joe Armstrong doesn't write stereotypical pop love songs with sappy lyrics. Still, he creates great musical hooks and I consider him one of America's best tunesmiths.
Martha's debut album is still fresh today it did 65 years ago. She was just 19 when she recorded this.
Almost all are gems particularly my faves are Prokofiev's Toccata and Ravel.
Her Brahms Rhapsodies are a bit too frantic for my taste, however.

This is really very good and hard to believe it's over forty years old now.
I only wish they would finally release the video from this project.
I think this and One Size Fits All are his 2 best, but that's really hard to say with all the great stuff he has done. If you get a chance to see his son doing ZPZ by all means go; I have seen it 4 times and every show is different, and always top notch. Dweezil can play the holy s**t out of a guitar, that's for sure, and his band is what you would expect from an ensemble doing what they do.

Tangerine Dream ~ Stratosfear (1976)
This is a nice way to start my day while looking out on a cloudless sunny morning.

Thanks DrMark that's good information to have, I'll try and use your prescription... I agree that a video would be a great addition, was it something planned for?
I'm sure you've heard this one before and it makes a great companion album to the one above:

Hard to believe that he's been dead for 22 years. Ah, time flies.
During workout, melodic and with a lot of acoustic guitar, nice..
Breakfast treat, it's a quite good recording, not always the case with Richter

Michael Neil & Graham Getty ~ Retrochet II (2010)
From the old original Berlin School of TD to one of the myriad of their imitators.
I'm having a spring clean of my music library at the moment - tagging, tidying artwork and converting to ALAC. Apart from being a real ball ache of a job i'm reminded of some great music i've not played for a while.
This is on my Walkman this morning.

Yes it was part of the whole project - and there are even promos for it (I think on my Baby Snakes DVD there is a promo for it "coming soon") - not sure what the Zappa Family Trust is waiting for, since the more time that passes the fewer people who would even be interested in FZ exist.
Here is the only part of the video project that is available:
I think this was his best lineup ever - Ruth Underwood was an absolute beast on percussion, and the great George Duke on boards.

Cheers Bert.
Now this:
A present from the same girlfriend that got away, the one who recommended v2.0. We must admire her musical taste, if nothing else.

"The Perge "wall of sound" returns in the shape of 'Attalus'. Like their first album 'Dyad', it is heavily influenced by the classic Tangerine Dream period. New compositions painstakingly created to have the signature sound of the Franke / Froese / Schmoelling years, but this time with some of the Baumann and Haslinger eras in there too." - Bandcamp Comment

I have only one problem with all this Berlin School electronica, and that's the fact that I'm utterly addicted to it!

It's fortunate then that there is a healthy stream of Berlin School bands queuing up for audition on Bandcamp...

"Simply stunning album of mellow indie tunes with just the right amount of dust and crystal clarity when needed, and the tastiest bass drums around...Beautiful, atmospheric, poignant album." - Bandcamp Comment
