(1978)

Gary's first solo album released in '78, this version expanded and remastered in 2013 to include additional tracks and variations.

Something relaxing to start the evening's listening. This lady has the most beguiling voice. So pleased I discovered her through others on this thread

Dr. Strangely Strange - Heavy Petting

Inspired by the Gary Moore stuff, this was my first incongruous encounter with him. Just 18, on the Irish Incredible String Band-alikes second album. This remains one of my all-time favourite guitar solos...bear with this (albeit quite fetching tin whistle solo) until about 4 minutes in, when the young man builds a wonderful solo for the next 3 minutes...

Jazz with a popular feel, from bandcamp

Now switched to this, which is a bit more laid back...

Your musical knowledge never ceases to amaze me! That is indeed a lovely solo and a lesson to all... leave out the tin whistles boys and girls.

Revisiting Beethoven's Late Sonata No.32 Op.111.

Schnabel's HMV recording made in 1932.

Historically fascinating but performance wise, I don't think this one stood the test of time.

Lack of clarity doesn't help the intro which dynamically rather flat somewhat meddling mumbling performance. His fingers do not seem to be able to keep up with fast moves coming off rather sloppy in some spots.

Particularly painful coming off right after Kempff ( '64 stereo version ) which is my reference performance.
