Prokofiev piano concertos  Radio 3 Proms  via NAT-01,NAC 552, NAP 300 into ancient SBLs.  Sounding fantastic.

The Beatles. Help! (1965). Late-70s German vinyl (stereo) on the Apple label. Of the various formats and pressings of this album I have, this version plays with the greatest vitality and is my favorite.

A very early Lloyd live recording from 1966. Band included Keith Jarrett on the piano, Jack DeJohnette (drums) and Cecil McBee (bass). Perfect for a sizzling afternoon.

Really good new folk/indie from a very soulful singer, song writer and guitar player. Good, memorable songs, intelligent lyrics. and very well recorded. Streaming via Deezer Elite/Sonos...

Always made me feel the way I like to.

Very smart music.  Generally very good recordings.

On vinyl. Japanese presuming from the 80s. A favorite from back then.

Linda Rondstadt: Hasten Down the Wind  1976 recording

First listen. I recall 'That'll be the Day' had a huge radio play back then.

On vinyl. 1995 Classic Records pressing. 20 years already? Ouch!

Beatles VI (1965). On Capitol vinyl with an Apple label. The Beatles' American catalog is kinda crazy; Capitol turned their first seven UK albums + singles + film music into 12 US LPs

Linda Ronstadt: What's New  with Nelson Riddle Orchestra 1983 Release.

This is a first of her *vintage* torch song themed albums.

I prefer Carly Simon's 'Torch' or even better Natalie Cole's 'Unforgettable'.

Tone and delivery of Ronstadt's voice simply wrong for this type of tunes.

Yeah it was goofy, but you know, since this is how I remember all my Beatles albums I have a warm spot for these in a sense (and this along with Beatles '65 were 2 faves), although I now in CD use the UK format.  Sentiment is nice, but not worth my money!

Can't remember how I came across this guy, but I am glad I did - highly recommended; a guy who never got the recognition commensurate with his talent level.

CSN&Y. Deja vu (1970). On CD from 1987. Another one of my early CD purchases upon it's release. Inspired by recent posts of Larry and Kuma.

Superb album. Young's heartfelt passion (and particularly the vocal phrasing - which neither he nor countless others ever subsequently matched - Last Waltz was close) on Helpless is one of my favourite things ever in popular music.

Peter Gabriel 1 (1977)

PGs first solo album that includes Solsbury Hill that was a hit "pop' record at the time. Shades of old Genesis with the first track 'Moribund the Burgermeister'. Some nice music on here from the other seven tracks.

Joe,

Why not get this in original vinyl?

No digital recording has that In-the-room intimate analogue sound.

Kuma,

Agreed. I have two very nice early pressings, one with the black cover and one with the brown cover. Both with the pasted-on photo. I'm listening in my shop tonight so don't have access to my TT.

ah nice.

Cherish those true 'high resolution' vinyl!
