Fish, A Feast of Consequences.  He might be a right miserable begger, and I'm sick of seeing him live with Mrs DayJay, but this really is a work of genius. Flac via audirvana/hugo

I have to thank you again for this one dayjay, its a great album and I've been listening to it on and off for perhaps 2 months since you first recommended it.

You're very welcome Steve, its one of those albums I suspect I will be listening to for years, just like Jailbreak which I'm listening to as I type.

Pete Townshend and Ronnie Lane, Rough Mix. Amazing album which I thought I knew well, but hearing sounds I have never heard before.

Sam Cooke. Portrait Of A Legend. The 2003 digital remaster on 2 LPs from 2014. Warm soulful music on a hot summer evening.

Solti/LSO: Strauss Alpine Symphony 1980 recording

First time listen. Oddly, it reminds me a bit of Mahler's Titan. Grand in scale majestic in vista Solti's theatrics is working well for the score.

I was taking back a little by how its ascending horn main theme is so similar to Japanese anime theme song from the 60s. :0

Horenstein/LSO: Strauss Death and Transfiguration 1970 recording

Life and death motif here is dealt with great urgency and clarity.

Horenstein takes a direct and straight approach with relentlessness. The flashback scene is not as reflective but the momentum building the Transfiguration final movement has tremendous tension and power.

The Best Of Steppenwolf. 20th Century Masters CD from 1999. I like it because the SQ is good and the compilation is limited to 10 songs. No dredging into any unworthy 'best-of songs' from the band's discography. The bluesy "Pusher" is my favorite on this one.

(2014)

Heavy on the synthesisers with this Berlin School band. This one is the third of their Ouddorp trilogy.

CD2 of 2 today. The quality of which would have been more than good enough to make a double album of this when it was first released.

I have always liked his voice and this 19 track collection makes for very nice listening.
