Ramsey Lewis - Tobacco Road (vinyl)

This was probably my father's favourite record. The copy I have (what was his copy) is not in very good condition, but it brings back such important memories. Owing to its provenance it doesn't get many outings, but when it does get a spin it is magical.

My first Led Zep album and probably still my favourite.  I bought this as a teenager at around the same time I first read Lord Of The Rings and, apart from the music, was spell-bound by the mysterious Mordor reference in the lyrics of Ramble On. I played the song several times to be sure I had heard it right.

Listening to this now on Spotify. I'm not sure I have the vocabulary to describe this adequately, but imagine if the Neil Cowley Trio was piano, violin & cello, with a leaning towards Penguin Cafe.

Whatever, this is really good, and I urge a listen. Thanks, Denis.

Led Zeppelin II is the second studio album by the English rock band Led Zeppelin, released in October 1969 on Atlantic Records

This too is the first LZ album I purchased in 1969. This is my favorite album too. Side two of this LP is hard to beat.
