My Brightest Diamond
Many thanks for the posting, she really is a class act.
Listened to all the albums on Spotify tonight and placed my Amazon order.
+1 I've always been a fan of Leonard Cohen,'Songs from a Room' was one of the first albums I bought after hearing,'You Know Who I Am',on the CBS sampler 'Fill Your Head With Rock'.
I'm glad you like her Rusty. She is rather special. Enjoy it!

On CD:-

Disc 1
A new purchase. Listening to the companion disc on vinyl. The track "Pod", a piano/guitar piece composed by JPJ, is really, really good.

Starting the weekend with Sex, Drugs and Rock & Roll

Well 2 out of 3 ain't bad.

Third by Portishead - on vinyl from the 2LP/12"/USB deluxe box. Haven't listened to it in yonks but was prompted to get it out by recall of their awesome headlining set at Latitude just under a fortnight ago.
Two things - I'd forgotten just how bloody good it is; and just what an amazing recording it is, with absolutely enormous dynamic range and "OMG Beth's in the room right now"presence.

My previous LP inspired me to play some more Elvis Costello

Currently on side one... What a great album.

First press vinyl:

Queen, Queen II, an old favourite that I rediscovered a few months ago. Creative and indulgent and still fun to listen to. Flac via Audirvana/Hugo

Lovely box set, Kev. I haven't played mine in a while but I have always been a great admirer of Ms Gibbons and she sounds absolutely supreme on this album.

Yes it's a thing of beauty Tony. Prob my favourite Portishead album.
Oh go on, play a triple live Yes album, I thought. So I did:

It is certainly more lapidated than the previous two releases by the band. Must be something in the Bristolian waters.

The Best Of Steppenwolf. 20th Century Masters CD from 1999. I like it because the SQ is good and the compilation is limited to 10 songs. No dredging into any unworthy 'best-of songs' from the band's discography. The bluesy "Pusher" is my favorite on this one.
Thanks Joe I have just put this one into a virtual shopping basket.
Thanks from me, too, Joe. Have just ordered one on-line as I have no Steppenwolf music and have been meaning to research what I should go for.
Mike

Promised myself a play of this earlier this week when I saw others posting it. Haven't played this in a very long time. Is this album really 20 year's old now? Where does the time go?

(2007)
I am just in the mood for some goth rock come symphonic rock. Sharon del Adel's voice is the heartbeat of this band. An Orchestra, a choir, explosions sounds of machine guns, even Winston Churchill!! What's not to like? ![]()
The discussion about the free Wilco album download reminded me that I hadn't listened to this collaborative effort from some of the leading lights of the Americana scene a few years back (Jeff Tweedy of Wilco , Gary Louris of The Jayhawks etc.) for a while.
Loving GL's Neil Young "homage" on "if I Only Had a Car".
....because I'm finding this newly acquired album rather addictive
Had a longer listening session at the pool this afternoon. And what is better then listening to some famous rock records. I don't know how often I have heard a Child in Time but I still find it an amazing song. While I prefer the version of their concert album. All in high resolution with nice dynamics and open sound. While this never will become an audiophile album...

The best album of Rush in my mind. Especially like the song Camera Eye, such a great build up and that just with a trio.... Also in high res.

An hypnotizing album. I don't know how I came to this album, but I guess through this forum, and I really like it....
