(2009)

Double album of this live concert released some forty years after the event. This was just about the last time they played together live before The Nice broke up weeks later and Keith Emerson went on to become part of ELP. It's a good live album and really surprising that it it had not been previously released.

Some really very good goth rock and psychedelia from this band fronted by two well matched female singers.

(2001)

Playing the track "TimeflowsPt.1" from the Timeflows album by Eden House earlier this evening vaguely reminded me of another band and another track with a similar riff. Fortunately a Bandcamp member's posting solved my dilemma. The track that TimeflowsPt.1 reminded me of is "At the Gates of Silent Memory" by Fields of Nephilim. So, on with their music...

Steven Wilson, Grace for drowning on CD. For no other reason than I fancied it just now.

Traffic, John Barleycorn Must Die.  I love the title track on this, and the rest of the album is pretty decent. 24 bit flac via Audirvana/Hugo

Milcho Leviev, piano Charlie Haden, bass. Not in the right order of fame but itt is Leviev who shines here and is being underpaid. A great LP/CD if you can find a copy.

Alfred Brendel: Schubert D960  1971 recording.

Well balanced and expressive. 1st movement has a nice lyrical momentum. Excellent depiction of progression of one’s thoughts and digressions. I get the feeling there is a person behind the notes due to his skilful pauses. Lighter touch than Horowitz and 2nd movement has more of the sense of hopelessness and despair yet less *chilly* not quite on the edge as suicidal Ricthter.

Clifford Curzon: Schubert D960 1972 recording.

Unusually passionate performance for Curzon.

Quite heavy and more outburst of emotion and dynamic contrast shown compared to Brendel’s light touch. His Andante, too does not have the intensity of Richter’s.

Can't say he's most rhythmic piano player. Scherzo like finale shows a bit of a humor as if the whole thing was a joke.

David Bowie. ChangesBowie. On CD from 1990. Nice SQ and dynamic range. I mostly enjoy Bowie's songs pre 'Station To Station' and there's nothing from Bowie post-1990 I'd add to a modern compilation of his anyhow. Would have preferred the original 'Fame' rather than the 'Fame'90 remix' here.
