A proper melange of Wheeler's smooth trumpet and Abercombie's warm strings for a muggy afternoon.

First spin, of this 1988 recording of Le Nozze di Figaro, made a few years after a famous run on Glyndebourne. Unlike Haitink's other recordings in this series of the Da Ponte operas, this set only met partial favour with critics and soon became hard to find - and it was never re-released by EMI. I was too late when I still had the chance - so now very excited to finally have found a good copy (which was dirt cheap, to boot).

I was one of those who never really got JMJ, much preferring my electronica to come from the Berlin School of artists around that time. This is sounding quite pleasant today but my feelings now are the same as ever, I want him to change the music up a gear or two as the album goes on...

+1.

I could never get his "music" either. Maybe the music was never any good and that would explain the laser extravaganza in his shows. Something had to make up for his artistic shortcomings.

I quite liked it, it was my first exposure to this type of the music, later on I got a hold of Antartica from Vangelis which I very much liked. Nowadays, it's not such a thing anymore for me.

ELP's debut album is doing a great job of driving JMJ's Oxygène from my head.

Yes, I do have a good taste in music, Steve. I guess I have always  been surrounded by people alike. I am glad you seem to enjoy some of  my postings. My moto is listen and let it listen, unless you mention anything either  by PT or  that guy, wilson something, that keeps on turning good music into excremental reissues.
