Early pressing of the first commercially available CD. Streaming WAV through NDX Hugo and sounding very good Indeed.

Behind the mushy, veiled recording, Zimerman and Bernstein present a good but not outstanding Brahms #2. But as a document of two titans working together, this is still unmissable.

Porcupine Tree, Sky moves sideways on CD. First listen, I think experimental best describes it for me. Couple more listens and I'll tune in to it.

Angela Hewitt/Hannu Lintu/ Mantova Chamber Orchestra: Mozart Piano Concerto No.17 & 27  2011 recording

Beautiful orchestration balancing between rich tone and rhythmic pulse. Woodwinds sound inviting and colourful. Excellent balance with the piano which are close and up front but plenty of note decays and atmosphere avoiding sounding claustrophobic. Unlike her snoozfest Bach work with Australian Chamber Orchestra, this set is livlier. Her note is precise and clear but retining much of lyricism and naturalness. Lintu’s direction is fresh and light on feet just the right partner for straight laced Hewitt.

Overall tho, I am more impressed with Lintu’s orchestration handling ( this is my first exposure to his work ) and delicate and 渋い winds than the piano.

The magic of Chris Anderson's piano.

 3 Albums by Fred Simon.

I prefer acoustic piano on Short Story ( 1985 recording ) & Remember the River (2004 ). Ken Christianson recorded Naim release does sound quite good and has more intimate balance than earlier The Mastering Lab production albeit there are a few non-fill spots.

Paul McCartney. Off The Ground. Original CD from 1993. As the title suggests, very upbeat music. Full of songs of hope and peace, and an album I always enjoy hearing.

When played right after Richter's Sofia concert, this orchestra version sounds awfully heavy handed and slow. The corny finale with gongs and bells are just too excessive ( and achieve nothing ). I have yet to find the convincing orchestra version which is equally powerful as Richter's solo piano.

I love his Prokofiev's Classic Symphony in this album, however.

Oh just because it bleeds buckets of PRaT.
